0-60 timing
Ok so I guess I've been neglecting my car by putting regular 87 in it and I just realized that I need to be putting premium in it .
Car has been sluggish and I read some stuff about the fuse pull (fuses 5 & 20). I'm going to try to let my tank run as close to E as I can and then fill it with the premium. Should I wait to do the fuse pull till I go through the premium. Or is it good if I just do the fuse pull after I fill it up or should I cycle through till the next premium fill up? Also I want to time a 0-60 run from before and after. Any suggestions beside using my phone as a stop watch? |

Empty your tank of the 87 by running it as low as possible. Fill 'er up with premium, do the fuse pull that night, let it sit overnight and then have fun the next morning!

Dumb question, But I'm assuming I take the fuses out and THEN replace them in the morning right?

I have to comment on this.
Based on everything I've read around here, and testing done, along with before/after opinions of SS owners who have been on the low octane table the different seems to be MUCH greater than just 10 HP. It has to be. Otherwise nobody would ever complain about their car feeling slow or more sluggish on 87 octane versus 93. The whole "well your new SS must feel slow b/c is on the 87 octane table" argument would basically be null and void. Since a seperate low octane table DOES exist, I'm guessing the difference in power at certain rpms is as much as 25 - 40 HP. To the OP....yes you are losing performance running on 87 octane.

and this. And it'll be plenty more than 10hp. On the auto's, the rears wouldn't even spin when using 87 octane. SAD!!! After everything was fixed and the ECU cleared, rears spun just fine... that's plenty more than 10hp right there! |
