G8 or Camaro?
I'm a long way off from being able to afford either car but I cant make my mind up on the G8 or Camaro. This is even more of a hard decision now that the 2010 G8 will come with the 3.6 SIDI engine. I realize it would probably come down to me test driving both cars but I need some food for thought.
I'm wondering if anyone can convince me one way or another. Or just use this thread to compare and contrast the cars in general.

Well, it looks like you are going with a V6. We have a G8 GT and it's a great car and very fun to drive. But, with the uncertainty of Pontiac I'd definitely go with the Camaro. Best of luck on choice.

Just want to let you know that although we're about 99% sure the 2010 G8 will have the SIDI engine, Holden isn't confirming anything yet.

Need a roomy backseat, excellent visibility, and an over-sized trunk? Get a G8
Otherwise - Camaro.

Still holding out hope that they'll do what was initially proposed, cut Pontiac down to a niche brand, sell performance vehicles through them, and keep them in BPG dealers.

This is only a debate, imo, if money is no object and rear seats are a MUST...
G8 V6 MSRP? $29,000 Camaro MSRP? $23,000 And adding the SIDI V6 to the car won't make it any cheaper...... The Camaro is faster, sexier (imo), and cheaper to buy and fuel. Clear choice for me, 'cause I don't need a family hauler. Given that Pontiac evolves into a niche brand, like proposed -- the G8 will be around, and that's almost a guarantee. |

Camaro for sure. If you need a family sedan get the Malibu.

LOL; If you are considering a sedan I would go with the Malibu. It's not to bad of a sedan. That's only if you are considering a sedan other than that CAMARO SS ALL THE WAY

yea I didn't realize the big price gulf at first. 6K is a lot of money to save and possibly use to mod. If I had unlimited funds I think I would go with the G8 because it does have more room and I feel a slightly nicer interior. But until that happens I think I'm sticking with my initial interest, the Camaro!

I'm torn in the same way, and I'm starting to really lean towards the G8 actually. I already have a fourth gen, even it's a V6, and while the name Camaro is worth it's weight in gold to me, I test drove a G8 the other day and fell in love with it. It's similar to the Camaro, but there's a whole different philosophy behind it. The G8 was luxurious AND powerful. I'm sure the Camaro will be comfortable and powerful, but luxury isn't it's intent at all, performance is, and I can't ever envision myself taking my car to the track. I just want something I can open up a little bit on a deserted back road and I think the G8 might be a better fit for every day life, and long trips to Florida to see my sister and such. I mean, I won't make a final decision until I see a Camaro in person, but I LOVED the G8 GT.
Edit: And I liked the interior in the G8 a lot more than what I've seen of the Camaro's, but again I'll save my final opinion on that one until I sit in a Camaro, and a second but, I like the Camaro's exterior better, although the G8 is pretty damned nice itself. Edit 2: And I'm actually starting to consider an auto, and I like the G8's tapshift set-up better than the Camaro's as well. If you guys can't tell, I'm pretty frickin' torn too.
