Don't forget that $2K less is probably wrapped up in the Brembo's.

yeah it's neat seeing how they compare dollar for dollar, but I would almost bet even if the Mustang came with 100 more Horsepower and 100 more ft/lbs tq for the same price, that 80-90 percent of Camaro buyers would still choose the Camaro over the Mustang.. and probably vice versa too...

5.0 vs the 6.2 hp ratings
OK, a quick search did me no good...why is the 'Stangs new 5.0 puting out 420-ish hp and the Camaro's 6.2 is at 426? Why is their engine more efficient at 1.2 liters less size and about the same hp?

Different engines.
It's not like there's a set number of horsepower cars have per liter. Could be 75, could be 250 and so on |

Well first the 5.0 is rated at 412hp. Until the production cars hit the street will really won't have an idea of how much power they are making realistically.
And the 5.0 is efficient because of the OHC design where they push the hp/torque up in the rpm range, simply speaking. It is at the sacrifice of low end and overall torque, generally speaking. |

Theres other things that go into the hp rating than the actual engine. I believe they are using a more advanced Air Intake which won't help the aftermarket intakes at all. They also have aggressively tuned the car to get those hp ratings. So in the end, the Camaro is going to respond way better to aftermarket parts than the new 5.0 mustang.

Right, it's kind of like how your car has 500 horsepower from a 5.0 but less torque than the camaro and also mustang I believe

Maybe bolt-on parts the Camaro will respond better. But with the Stang you will probably not see any after market heads. The stock heads flow some seriously impressive numbers. Best you will probably be able to do is get some machining on stock heads.
Where the 5.0 will shine, at least once you get some good rods and pistons in it will be when you force feed some air into her. These DOHC motors love boost. And with the heads flowing better than GT500 heads, I can see a forged 5.0 making more power or the same power as the same amount of boost on the GT500s 5.4. |

the 5.0 is a very well engineered motor.

OK, I'll take torque over hp but that's just me. So the 5-oh makes great hp but not so much torque as the 6.2?
Don't intend to make this Ford vs Chevy, I am just curious how they get the same power with less cuib inches. |
