Finally got the grille painted and installed. Looks hot.

yes it does look hot.....why didn't GM put these grilles on the SS cars in the first place.....I like where you put your SS emblem...I was thinking the same place and was looking for a pic to see how it would look...should be getting mine from Gary's Customs by the end of the week or the first of next week....

Looks Awesome!!! I've been waiting to see someone finally do one in Silver. Can't wait to paint mine now (I didn't buy a pre-painted). How did you attach the "SS" emblem, can you use the same factory hardware from the stock grille or did u have to modify it???I would like to keep my bowtie and SS emblem if possible?!?!? In fact, I would really like to make it a "SS/RS" emblem somehow???

My dealer painted and installed it for $200 so I had them do it. I went in the back and watched them do the entire thing, and told them were to put the SS emblem.

They made a flat backing plate out of some old plastic, trimmed the existing plastic tabs on the back of the SS emblem so they would go through the heritage grille, cut some slots in the backing plate for the tabs, and then used a electric soldering gun to melt the tabs to the plate. They then melted a few places on the backing plate to the backside of the grille so the whole thing will not move.

I wanted it clean looking, so they came up with this. No hardware or clips used. Just "re-welded" plastic.

nice..i have a SIM too but someone did a photoshop of it and didnt look clean..felt like there was too much silver..but yours do look hott.... i have mine not painted. but then again i have a huge inter cooler that sticks out since its not painted...

Looks great!! I just always thought it would need to be black to look right but that does look great in silver!!

That looks awesome. I bet you have one of the best looking SIM with a painted antenna too!! LOL Can't wait to get mine on the car. Got the bowtie mounted, but not the SS yet. I'll give this to my guys and see if they can duplicate the install. Thanks for sharing.

Just ordered mine from Gary's also, can't wait to get it put on. These grilles should have been stock on the SS models to help set them apart from the LT.

I'd say that grille in the Photoshop wasn't really "silver." it's hard to get metallic colors in Photoshop so it's a flat color that matches close to the silver.

I say paint yours Sam!!

LOL it wasnt yours that i was talking .... it was a different friend that did one for me. i tired to get a different look by trying out different silver painted...

I think they should have been included in the RS package...That would be more to the heritage of the Camaro than putting it on the SS models...

Looks good!! I really like it painted on the light colors, IOM, SIM, and Summit White. Not sure about the ABM yet... I may just black it all out for a phantom look.
