Question Headers without intake.

Hey guys, so I just got my stainless power headers and wanted to know if I can install them without an intake (will be getting CAI intake in about a month) my car is stock it only has a muffler delete, will it sound different with the intake, will it damage anything without an aftermarket intake? should I wait for the intake then install the headers and intake together or can I install headers now and wait for the intake?

You can install the headers ! You'll need a tune to get the most out of them . Or u can wait it's up to you . If you do wait for the new intake it'll be better when you go for you tune ! Good luck

You won't damage anything by installing the headers now.
You will probably throw a code (Check Engine Light)
but that is only because of the O2 sensors, and will not harm your engine.
You will need a tune to remove the CEL

You will get the best performance from the headers, intake and tune all together

So I think i'm going to install headers now then get the intake and then a tune, Do I need to worry about driving without a tune for about a month? it's just going to get me a check engine light right? nothing to worry about?

I also waited about a month before my tune. You 'should' be fine, but try to be easy on the right pedal until you get the tune.

It doesn't matter whether you have an intake or not, what does matter is that you have all the parts you plan to install, installed before you tune. The car will run fine without a tune, but you will get a CEL eventually if not immediately until you tune.

Best regards,

Just to reiterate what Tyler already said, you will be fine without a tune. For some reason, the camaro5 community has been riddled with this myth that your car will be forever ruined if you install headers and an intake and not get the car tuned. I ran my car like this for months. I even had my wideband hooked up just to see what all the hype was about. All a/f ratios were perfectly fine.

No problem doing headers first ,just don't tune until you get all the bolt on's done. a Bo ported TB and an Apex race scoop would be what you want B4 the tune . The headers, CAI , race scoop Bo ported TB, and a tune will really wake the car up .

why not do everything at one time. get the CAI and see what tune you want. i would never drive around with my CEL on. not that it will hurt the car. but do it right way. its your car so do what you like just saying

all you need to do is go to Autozone or O'Reilly after you install the long tube headers put spark plug extension adapters(I think that's what it's called) and then put your 02 sensors into that....no code....

Doing the headers/exhaust first will allow you to get the most out of any later upgrades.

Does this really work? I'm looking into getting Kooks headers with green cats to avoid the CEL on my 2014, but if this method works I can get the headers with hi flow cats instead.
