Unfortunately, I third that. This news comes as the second "announced" start of production date(contrasting with October of '08)...so, I now believe niether, untill I hear it from GM.
Thanks for keeping a lookout though, Apellon. EDIT: I Decided to scratch that previous statement about not believing anything yet...I beleive!!! Quote:

Hmm, seems like GM would lose money for the first quarter of '09 if they waited 2 months into the new year to begin production. I think GM will definitely start production sometime in '08 for the '09 year.

Preorders are great.
I want to start a preorder website, where anyone can preorder anything. By the time the product comes out I will have made so much money investing their money...

I agree . I spoke with someone from GM Corporate ( I can't say any names but someone who knows ) and they still don't have a production date or the Price. They expect to start making them at the end of 2008 I was told. But it's not official.

Apparently there are some folks on these boards that work at the Oshawa plant. They're probably going to be our best bet on hearing any "new" information pertaining to the Camaro's production start time. I mean, they're the ones building it, right?
It's been said before; GM has to finish making the '07 Impalas' which should conclude around November of this year. They'll tear down that line and the tooling people will reconfigure it to run the Camaros. From what I hear, setting that line up will take about 6 months if everything goes well. So that puts the Camaro's start up time frame approximately around May or June of '08. You may start seeing them in showrooms around August of '08, or "about" a year from now as the '09 model. OR... you might not see them at all until December '08- January '09 at the very latest... which, of course would suck- especially around that time, for northerners. |
