These threads are always predictable and laughable. Asking people that plunked down $50 to 65K on a car if they're going to get rid of it when the new model comes out. These owners need to find something "fact" based to legitimize their past purchase. Then we get the comments:

"I really don't like the headlights on the new model"
"Those tail lights don't flatter the rear the way the round ones use to"

Ask those same owners if they want to trade for free. Then what? Damn right, in a heart beat. But wait.....I thought you hated the tail lights? LOL

So in reality...if you are a REAL car guy...please help me understand how you don't want a lighter, better handling, more modern, more powerful car again? Seriously...tell me how much you just hate the turn signals on the new 2017. LOL

I'm trading my CTS-V coupe in the minute I can find a dealer that will sell a ZL1 at MSRP.

Well some of us car guys like the old school stuff. If I had to choose between my car, the new car, or a C2 Corvette, I would choose the C2 Vette. Modern is not the end all, the experience and enjoyment is. It is OK to not like something even if it is new. If I could could have a collection, I doubt it would contain a single car newer than 1970, but I guess then I would no longer be a real car guy.

I think the gen5 ZL1 looks more "American Muscle" if there is such a thing. I'm also in the minority of folks that actually like the Gen5 ZL1 interior. Guess I'm old school where I don't need my dashboard to look like a space shuttle. The Gen5 was styled to pay homage to the original Gen1's. The new Gen6 looks like it took the styling cues form the Gen7 Corvette - which is not a bad thing but it moved away from the retro look that made the Gen5 a hit.

The Gen6 looks good, but to me, the front looks like it has more Asian styling (see Mitsubishi, Toyota, Lexus, Mazda) including the rear wing. Don't get me wrong, if I didn't have mine and was in the market - I would definitely be looking at the '17 ZL1 along with the Hellcat and also see what Ford has in store for a new GT500.



.....and with my mods, the '17 ZL1 is not the more powerful car.

Edited to add: back to your statement if we were able to trade for free/no cost - then yes, who wouldn't want to trade any make old car (except for a classic muscle car or Corvette (C1,C2) for a new one for free - but since we live in the real world, I do not feel the need to increase my monthly bills. I'm good with what I have.

I also saw the 6th.gen ZL1 presentation in You Tube, and after it I think that the performance of the 6th.gen ZL1 would be much better, stronger, lighter and with better handling, but our 5th gen ZL1 looks much better.
