similarities firebird-camaro
What if any are the similarities between the firebird and Camaro. I know the powertrain and most likely the sub-frame are the same, but what else can be interchanged between the two? A friend of mine is thinking of getting one as a possible project car and wants to know.

Are the fender mounting points the same and all. That would actually help.

I honestly couldn't tell you. I remember seeing a video about this (which I believe was called the Transmaro!)
Here is the link to LS1 tech, that I used to find the pics for my post today. It's been a while, and my memory isn't that good. http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/paint-...transmaro.html I've been trying to find more info about it but I seem to be coming up short in my search... |

I had never seen it up until a couple months ago when I saw a nice looking orange Camaro that had it. My first thought was somethin like damn that sucks, but as I got closer I noticed what it was. ha |

That's really cool...the hatch kinda reminds me of a Del Sol though...if I dare to say.

As far as I know, everything except a few body panels and interior pieces are the exact same for the Camaro/Firebird. Provided you get comparable trim levels. All body pieces should mount exactly the same, they are the same car.

the powertrain and frame are pretty much the only things that are the same. the entire front clip (obviously) and mirrors are different, on the back the hatches are different as well as the 1/4 panels that are used, the tail lights and the center panel in the back is different, along with the rear bumper. inside, the seats, the shifter knob, steering wheel, door panels, gauges are all different.
as for the car that C_C posted. thats a friend of mine from Z28.com's car. his s/n is Meatyshells over there if you want to see some more pics of it. here's another version that incorporates a camaro front with a trans am rear. http://www.camaroz28.com/99fbody/index.html as you can see from this side profile shot things dont line up completely. what years (lt1 or LS1) is your friend wanting to do this on?
