I have a L99 and it's not bad at all, so I don't know what this guy is talking about.

There is a little drone, but what car with headers and exhaust doesn't? It's nothing unbearable.

Does the OP have a supercharger?

Certainly the volume level between a SC and an LS3/L99 without is two completely different sounds.

If you want a nice cruise with no drone and Loud under throttle then check out the Kooks Street Sleeper. there is a video on youtube from inside the car but it is stock headers on it. I have LT's on mine and it is Loud when I get on it but very nice at idle and cruising. They have gotten alittle louder since my video since they have officially been broken in now.

Still can hold a conversation in cabin or by phone? I am looking for a good X or H pipe cat back to replace my stock mid pipes.

I have the ATAK with headers and, yes, you can have a normal conversation with a passenger or on a phone. The wife and I just recently did a 1700 + mile road trip down the southwestern leg of RT 66 and not once did the exhaust get annoying around 70-75 mph. You can hear it of course but I wouldn't call it a hard drone. Very manageable at light throttle and not obnoxiously loud until you get on it.

It was a beautiful day in Houston, so I got some in-cabin videos for you. I agree with pretty much everyone else on here; it's louder, but you can still carry on a conversation, listen to the radio, etc. It's loud when you get on it, but for normal daily driving it's a great sound without being overbearing.

Here is my setup:
LG Motorsports long tube headers w/ high-flow cats & x-pipe
Borla ATAK mufflers
Halltech cold air intake

I say go for the headers. You'll love it.

Video 1: City driving, starting from stop at red light.

Video 2: Highway driving, entering from ramp and cruising at 70 mph. At about 30 seconds I turned on the radio. At about 1:20 I switched to a talk radio station. Both are very audible. At about 2:05 I cut the radio and opened up the throttle a little bit.

Video 3: Highway driving, cruising at about 75 mph. Talking in this one to demonstrate ease of conversation.

I can second him on that. I didn't realize that is what was on the car when I was doing the tune on it. Sounds very nice all the way around. Not to loud under cruise and a nice bite under acceleration.
