You could have bought a Corvette

OK, I have only had my car a few months, when I bought it, nobody new about it except my wife and I. As I slowly let others know I sometimes get the same comment…..You Could Have Bought A Vette For That Price!!!

Well, I did not want a vette, it is a 2 seater, not a 4 seater…I like the looks of a vette but the Camaros retro design looks so much better. I looked at some Corvettes, and yes for the price could have bought one, but found the exact Camaro I have been wishing for since 10, with the options, color and interior. Could not be happier.

Any of you guys get the same comments?

I definitely could not buy a Vette for what I paid on my used SS.

Some people just don't know what they are talking about. They need to shut up or go away or go away and shut up.

Actually you could have bought a lot of vehicles....a used RV, two or three Corollas maybe. The fact is you bought what you wanted. If someone says that to you don't be ashamed to say you bought just what you wanted.

Keep in mind most people are really good at spending other people's money.

If a Camaro and a Corvette had the same price tag, I'd go Camaro any day. I like the style, the passenger capability, even the "Camaro mystique" (although I lost a bet to my wife, and my punishment was a LIFETIME ban on mullet privileges... damnit. At least I still have Def Leppard...). The Vette might be faster, and may outperform the Camaro at the upper limits in many ways... but, sometimes, just because something might cost more, it may not be the thing that I desire the most.

Who cares what others say or think. It's your money. Don't understand someone saying that you could have bought a Corvette for the price that you paid for the Camaro? Perhaps used Corvette. Since you are happy with your Camaro drive on and enjoy the ride.

Used vette in the price range I picked up my used SS for would have had > 80k miles, my used SS is absolutely mint with 20k miles, plus it has 4 seats, and I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it.

same could be said for you.
Some of these SS cars are well into the upper 40s and low 50s

My dusk sticker was $49.5k

Even at invoice it was over 44

Used low mileage grand sports can be had in that range with ease.

At my dealership, they had at least one new Corvette selling in the low fifties and several Camaros selling for the high forties or more, so his story makes sense to me.

don't know about anyone else, but I sure as hell won't pay $40k-$50k for a used car..

especially a sports car like a Vette, that you know some idiot beat the hell out of while he had it. Or worse a lease return where the owner didn't feel it was their responsibility to maintain it because it wasn't theirs.

$25K is tops for me on a used vehicle, I would rather take the initial resale hit on new knowing that it has no prior abuse history and has it's full warranty.

I've bought several lease returns and second hand cars over the years, and I can tell you every one of them was plagued with problems. Only had 1 new car that had major issues and that was my own damn fault for buying a first model year version from Ford..

I have a superpower which allows me to tune out stupidity and illogical thinking, so that comment would have gone right through my ears and I wouldn't have wasted any time pondering or justifying it.
