What Would You Guys Do?

Wife and daughter went to go see granny in the nursing home and the daughter was driving. My daughter curbed the right front wheel on the passenger side and left a nice rash on it. Well a week later I go to wash the car and discover the rash as I'm drying it. Nobody fessed up to it. I asked the wife what happened and she explained the daughter didn't want to move the mirror cause I might get mad, mind you they drive the Camaro all the time and I never complain about where the seat or the mirrors are, I just adjust them. What do you guys think should be the proper punishment for this crime?

Never let anyone drive the car again.

This is just my opinion and I do not intend to upset the rest of the Camaro community with it. I would be more upset at them trying to hide it than that it happened. Hiding it is the same as lying. I'd make it clear that this is unacceptable and move on with life. The wheel can be repaired or replaced.

Tell your daughter it's just a car and it can be fixed. Family is #1 and things are farther down the list..... although the Camaro is not too far down that list.

Well I left my wife of fifteen years of marriage for lieing..so you may not want my input but honesty sure is nice in a relationship. I would be more pissed of the lies than the car.

Would moving a mirror really upset you? I doubt it, especially seeing as how it's just a push button to correct it again (or manual adjustment for the center one) which DOESN'T cost money to fix!

I don't even want to assume that you are concerned about what it would cost for a new Wheel, just the fact that your daughter didn't say:

"Yes, Dad...I cut down the Cherry tree". (I'm sure you know what this means)

That's the real issue at hand here. The hiding/lying issue. For all you may have known, maybe someone tried to vandalize your car and you might have gone out and gotten security cameras to scope out your driveway/house. Come to find out it was really your daughter and she didn't tell you.

Yeah, I would be much more concerned about teaching a lesson in why you have to be straight with people. I hope she isn't hiding anything else on you.

My daugther is 21 and I don't allow her to drive my car. And really don't want my husband driving it either.

Wait a minute - did I read this incorrectly or was your wife there? If so then I'd have a much bigger problem with the wife. She didn't tell you and set a poor example for the kid by agreeing not to. Can't punish the kid too much when the Mom doesn't act like an adult.

I guess I would have a long discussion with my wife, then not let the kid drive it for an undetermined amount of time - explaining that if she had told the truth right away there would have been little or no punishment - the punishment is mostly for lying about it.
