New TPMS Question
I purchased a second set of a wheels and a set of winter tires to preserve my summer wheels/tires and avoid going the all-season route. As that time of year approaches, I finally need to get the winter tires mounted to my 2nd set stock SS wheels.
I purchased OEM TPMS sensors (small black component with both valve/screw) and need to install these on my 2nd set of wheels so they will be functional when I swap wheels. I do not intend to swap tires on the same set of wheels. Before I go to a shop to have the wheels mounted, I would like to have a better sense of the TPMS so that I'm asking the right questions, only having to do this once, and not coming off as uninformed as I clearly am.

The sensors installed in the winter wheels is all that you will need BUT....The installer will have to relearn the BCM to recognize the new sensors. Also when you change the wheels and tires in the spring, you will have to relearn the "summer" sensors. Depending on what model and year you have, you may be able to do the relearn procedure shown in the owner's manual. If not, you'll have to either purchase a relearn tool or take the car to a business that provides that service.

on the 2010-2012 (I think) you could reset or relearn the TPMS sensors fairly simply,
later models need a special tool. The procedure involves going to the tire pressure display in the data display on the dashboard, then letting out a little bit of air from each tire, then the horn and lights flash and you are all set

The installer should be capable of the initial learning, and I'll handle the solution for re-learning around Spring time. |

I have a question.. not to thread jack.. I have tpms in my summer aftermarket wheels and tires but I just bought new tires for the winter for my original 20s. Do I have to have tpms if I only have these on December through March?? Not sure if I feel like paying 45 bucks per tire for them.. yes im cheap lol

No.
You never HAVE to have TPMS it just allows you to monitor your tires pressure, you will probably get a CEL if you install tires without TPMS, but your car won't explode or anything

$45 each sounds like dealer pricing... They're $50 a set of 4 on eBay...

It's the right part number - that seller has less transactions, but I'm generally pretty happy with most eBay sellers.
