Oil Pump Help

I have put 4 hours between 2 days into trying to get this damn oil pump back on and it aint happening. Ive lost patience for it and really need to move on with the build. Im looking for someone that has a way of doing this and/or has done this before. Both oil pump and pickup tube bolt. I dont care if you can get it in 5 minutes, $50. Please help!

Too bad you aren't in the DFW. What's your problem exactly? Maybe I can walk you through it.

I just cant get it to slide on. I have the tube in, and with that in, the left side of the pump slide on with no problem, its getting the right side to do something thats pissing me off. When I try and put the pump on flush, with the tube in, I can get it to slide on about 1/4 of an inch, but then locks up. I am using a mirror to check the teeth, it always looks like one side is perfect, and then the other side is slightly misaligned. I knew it was going to be a pain to get it off/on, but this is ridiculous. I had an appointment with Pat G to get tuned this Saturday, which I had to cancel. :(

What I do to get it on right is take the pump apart. Then first install the pump's main empty case. This way you can make sure you install the oil pump o ring on with out messing it up because you can see it. Then you can instal the pump internals and finally the front oil pump cover.

Thanks, Im gonna give that a shot. Never thought of that. Now it sounds too easy! Did you shim your pump while you had it apart to increase pressure? Just wondering if its worth it on LS3s. I know it was huge with LS1s.

I am not a fan of doing anything to the oil pumps. I have always had plenty of luck just using stock pumps. Not that I'm against it, but if it ain't broke...
