Hoosier 28x10-17 need tubes?
I know this is tires so it probably goes in the tire section, but I figure there is a much better chance the people in here have first hand experience?
I am ordering some Hoosier 28x10-17 slicks today as I noticed my M&H's are now dead Should I get tubes for the slicks or run without? My car is not very fast (11.9 @ 9,000DA). Are there any pro's/ cons to tubes? Current tire :(

I have 20 passes on my Hoosiers without tubes and have had no issues. I played with tire pressure from 11 to 20 lbs and found 14.5 lbs. seems to work good for my car.

Unless you plan on screwing the tires to the wheels you won't need tubes.

jamie will tell you, if you have 700rwhp range, you prob might want to consider screws..

The tubes will help with side sway on the big end. What rims and tires are you running up front? I just want to make sure you running a skinny.
Slicks feel a whole lot diffrent then DR. |

If you don't run tubes and screws, I'd mark them for sure.
Only downside to not running tubes is sometimes my slicks would go flat pretty quick. There is some sort of trick using liquid soap or something to use between the wheel and slick that helps it from loosing air too fast, maybe search on that. Might be a good thread on on YB.

Has anyone had a problem with the Hoosiers going out of round? I noticed on the return road from the track that the car seemed unusually bumpy, but had written it off to adjusting rear coilovers to full stiff. I put the rear on jacks and let the tires spin at idle and have quite the hop on my LR tire..... about 3/8" of an inch, but everything looks good otherwise. Used them for 1 test-n-tune night (about 7 passes), Sturgis Camaro Rally 1/8th mile, and 6 passes at Bandimere's Super Chevy 2013. Lots of tread still.

As Jaime knows, my tires are screwed to the rims and I do not have tubes in them...just have to be diligent about checking the air pressure... Which as racers we can be a bit anal about that anyway...

Also if the screws go through wouldn't it pop the tubes, if it had tubes?
