What brand of Torque wrench do you use ?????????

I recently purchased a Craftsman 1/2" Torque wrench and after only using it a few times it broke. After reading all the reviews on the Sears site it seems that this is a common problem with the wrench. I also noticed that it isn't made by craftsman and only carries a 90 day warranty versus the lifetime warranty of the craftsman products.

Let me know what brands you guys use.

Snap-On or Griot's Garage. Griot's has a lifetime calibration, you can send it in once a year to get it checked for free.

I don't believe that Craftsman (or Sears) makes anything. They just pay someone to make stuff and put the Sears or Craftsman or Kenmore name on it. The problem is that they change suppliers every few years. Craftsman stuff used to be pretty good, but everything I've bought in the last 5 years has pretty much been crap.

Today, Craftsman Professional is about the quality you used to get from Craftsman products, and Craftsman is just poor...

I have a Craftsman. It is solid, but then again, it's 30 years old and made in the USA.

I don't know who makes them but I use split beam 1/2 and 3/8. I only use a micrometer style for 1/4.

I have a Harbor Freight one that my son bought me years ago. Still works great.

Sears Craftsman. Mine broke after about a year (This was like 12 years ago). Took it back and got lucky and they replaced it. They said they won't do that again and that only hand tools (torque wrench is not considered a hand tool) have a lifetime warranty.

Do not use the torque wrench to remove bolts or nuts, only for the final checking of the torque.

I use a CDI torque wrench, I believe they are a division of snap on.

For stuff like wheels, it almost doesn't matter.....Craftsman, Husky, Powerbuilt even. On more sensitive things like engine parts, Snap-On is the only way to go.
