So I made my mind up :)

Well, i know I've been around here talking about getting a ss consistently because i have a v6, but i realized, i make MORE than enough to comfortably afford a Zl1, so with that being said, i might as well just add my name to the Zl1 list and let the wait begin but...the only downfall, i have to literally wait until some one in SoCal cancels their deal and I'm 1st in line to take their spot...on top of also waiting the 8 weeks for it to be built :(, but it'll all be worth it in the long run! so...let the wait begin

Whoa...from a V6 to a ZL1, you're certainly going to feel a BIG difference in power. Good luck on the purchase!

They are not going to quit making them after the 2012s are all built. Just wait and order a 2013. You never know, they may improve on the 2013 in some way.

Not only that...be prepared to pay a premium for it.

It would be super sweet to be one of the first few to have one though.

I was going to suggest the same thing. First line cars are risky to get. I would rather get the second year when any kinks have been worked out. I was going to get a ZL1 originally, and then I realized that 90% of my driving is daily driving type stuff. I didn't need a track ready car for that. I'm loving my SS more than I can put into words, and if I ever decide I need more power, I can easily mod it.
Good luck and congrats on your decision!
