Do you mean it popped as in when you go to pop it pulling the hood release? Or did it come off the safety latch? Coming off the safety latch at 70 it would of smashed into you windshield. In either case, there's something wrong there.

As in pulling the hood release. Should I let the dealership know or should I wait?

Why would you wait? Of course, I'd let the dealer know right away.

Yea, I'd get to the dealer eventually. Unless of course you hit the release accidentally with your knee. I don't even know if that's possible, but you never know. It could have also been from not shutting the hood properly in the first place.

I would have taken it to dealer, slowly, but as quickly as possible. Dangerous.

It's quite a shock if it ever comes up all the way on you. Not in a modern car, old Jeep I used to drive. Going down a dirt, windy, mountain road, the dang thing popped up on me. Startled me, it was a long time ago, I don't even think I was 16 yet. All I could do is just stop and make sure I wasn't dead. I cannot imagine that happening today on an interstate or other highway with traffic.

I had the hood open the night before at a meet, but right after the meet we went on a cruise, then I drove home, and I was driving to work when it happened. Couldn't of been my knee cause I was cruise control with my feet of the pedals. And I drove a good 30-40 miles before it happened

I just had the dealer order a new cable and latch assembly because mine was doing this too. I don't know why it happened but the latch will not spring back all the way when you close the hood. It eventually got to the point that the hood wouldn't latch at all, I had to use a screwdriver to push the internal latch back in place so it would lock the hood when I closed it. I'm not talking about the safety latch there has been no problem with that. Problem is with the latch that makes the hood close flush.

Might leave with a little more than a new hood latch if that's the case
