I know its been said before, but WTF - my A6 wont roast

I know its been talked about but WTF is the deal? To get my tires spinning I have to power brake?

When I test drove the LS3 M6 I did a power drift through a corner (not on purpose, but it was ABSOLUTELY the selling point) with all the traction control and stability control stuff turned on... and my A6 doesnt/wont even do that!

I have just under 800 miles and a bone-stock 1SS/RS

When I hold the TC button down and turn everything off the car launches almost identically to how it launches with "Lauch Control" on. In sport mode, manual shift... you name it.

I can get the car sideways for brief moments when jamming the gas from a dead stop turning around a corner, but nothing even remotely close to what 400hp should be able to do to these tires.

The temps here have been mild - 60's and 70's for the most part.

AC is off, havent even turned it on to make sure it works.
Did a fuse pull, even though it was built a month ago and shouldnt need it and has never had anything other than 92 octane in it - I even drove it to the gas station with the dealer to fill it the first time to make sure.

Those tires are super sticky. Even fairly well broken in and with some mods to add more HP they dont break loose easily. You have to get the RPMs up a bit if you want to do it.

well, I suppose that's "good"... though I have to admit I bought the A6 so that my wife could/would also be able to drive it (and her learning how to drive a stick in my Camaro with 426hp is/was NOT an option), and I am slightly disappointed...

I had planned on leaving the car stock for the most part (CAI), but I have been thinking that HF Cats, resonated X-pipe and rear-end gears are going to have to be done to keep the warranty and boost performance. 3.73 rear-end gears should solve the "roast" problem but that's still a little disappointing.

I have also read on here the v8 motor opens up more after about 2,000 miles. I have the v6 so I can't attest to that.

that's weird, the first day I got mine right after I left the dealership, I lit the tires right up from a stop going straight.

She should be spinning them, I have the M6 and spin them accidently. IMHO I feel that the rubber in the P-Zero's is pretty tough and allows a spin pretty easily.

if you are at a dead stop with rpms at idle.. and you just floor it... i wouldn't expect much tire spinning...

This is your problem. The L99 doesn't light them up until 1,500-2,000 miles. Wait until then when the engine is good and broke in.

I know your disappointment.... but I caution you about spending so much $ replacing parts and trying to "keep your warranty" for a noticable power increase. A custom tune that tweaks the engine & transmission for about $300 will be HUGE even without any other mods.

Torque Management is a big reason your not "feeling" that rush. The little AFM hesitations and tranny delays all add up (L99 only)....but thats how they warranty it even for 16 year old drivers to 100,000 miles.

The GM nanny computers will allow you to push the envelope...just not too far.
