Still skeptical about oil catch can?

If you still not sure if the oil catch can is worth it. Here is the amount it had with about 3000 miles. All this would have caked my valves. Cheap insurance.

I am still skeptical and I have one. I can say I wouldn't buy another one since I drive mine year round and had bought it last summer and all I have dumped out of mine all winter is ice. Have to check it weekly and dump and all water and only a few drops of oil. I went 3000 miles last fall but we got cold last before I was able to dump it and I had a hell of a time getting the can off. It is warm now and won't check it as often. I only drive it aggressive on occasion and if all I see is a tablespoon of oil I am pulling it off and one will be for sale. This is JMO but if you are not taking it to the track and only running it hard on occasion like I am there is no need for one and they are just a waste of money. Again just my opinion.

Dean.

Quick question. How easy/difficult is it to install? I've changed my own oil, cleaned the TB, and replaced a fuel filter. Is it within the grasp of a novice or do you really have to be mechanically inclined?

It's not bad at all. Elite's instructions are good and there is also a good YouTube video I can link you to to walk you through the process. Takes maybe 20-30 minutes.

Best regards,

I have to admit at first I was not sure if it was worth it BUT once I saw the oil in it (about a half a quart so far) with 3,500 miles - I was sold. I have an Elite can on my LFX 6 and installation was very easy. Now I wonder why Chevrolet did not come up wit a better design so I don't have to go thru this extra hassle of buying a catch can and emptying it every 3,000 miles. Buy one and make sure you install it correctly - its worth it !
