Question on installing vinyl Rally stripes for those that DIY installed the stripes.
I'm going to attempt the vinyl rally's myself and have the stripe kit from GM.
Questions for the install: The instructions show doing the hood and decklid wet, but the spoiler dry. Should the spoiler really be done dry by a first time DIy'er? Or did they just leave the wetting step out of the instructions by mistake? Any preference over using Rapid Tac vs Water and Dawn? Is Rapid Tac going to be forgiving enough for a rookie installer to move it around while perfecting it, or does it set up a lot faster than water and Dawn? The instructions say water and Dawn, but the videos I've watched show them using Rapid Tac. Thanks. |

I did them myself and did the spoiler wet, do not try it dry you will screw it up, and I just used water and soap.

I watched the fellow doing the stripes on my car. Just for the record, he did everything wet. When he was doing the front, one of the thin stripes folded over. I tell you what...had that been me doing the stripes I would have been out the money, but he saved it. I don't know how and there was no tearing, but it is well worth paying the experts to do this job. IMHO.

Did mine myself, take your time. I used Rapid Tack, jus tmake sure they are where you want them when you squeegi out the water. Did this on the spoiler as well. Good luck.

I did my hood spears by myself and have a fold in it... I did a wet install even. I wouldn't suggest it alone with a full rally stripe. Shouldn't cost much to have a pro do it, an hours worth of work tops I bet for those guys. $75
