GM needs to be involved in this situation. The dealer represents them an a it was a GM approved warranty repair.

GM has never in my memory backed the service since they pulled out of the dealerships and left the shops in the individual dealerships hands....I agree its a grievous error as dealerships are the face of GM to the consumers they sale them to, but the most they will do is investigate....which is basically call the dealer, see what they say, go ok whatever, then tell the person they investigated and GM has no responsibility.

GM does not give a fig really about people after the sale....before you buy yes, afterwards not so much.....they leave it completely in the dealers hands.....

They aren't the only ones, my mom had an issue at one of the Goodyear repair shops, they weren't helping her so she called Goodyear...they were basically. we cant help you, its not our shop, we just license out the name to them......so its not just GM hiding behind the paper shield.......

And I can assure everyone here that my story is 100% accurate. Many folks on here know me and know I'm a straight-shootin' no BS kind of guy.

I really was STUNNED when the foreman told me the pistons wouldn't be replaced while we were standing there looking at the damage.

Oh and by the way. While I was there in the shop. My parts that I spent GOOD money on and/or had painted Synergy Green:

1LE oil separator
RX Catch can
Vmax Throttle body
CAI Intake

Were LYING on the shop floor with other parts laying on top of them and oil/coolant on and around them. So I'm sure I'll have to have those repainted.

Those parts should have been taken better care of.
This dealer is garbage. They have no respect for their customer's property.

This is true. The dealer screwed up the engine, and based on the contracts they have for doing warranty work, is probably responsible for properly repairing it at their expense, which they obviously are not willing to do.

At a minimum, the pistons should have been taken out, cleaned, and inspected for cracks.

Sounds like he would settle for new pistons now but they already put it back together. That would be the way to go you would get new rings and hopefully all new gaskets/seals, everything cleaned internally because you know a bunch of crap got down in the cylinders. That's the way I would fix it.

But in the beginning he was screaming he wanted a whole new engine kind of threw a wrench in the works.

Actually the first words out of my mouth when we saw the pistons were damaged was "So you ordered new pistons along with the valves, hopefully" ad the shop foreman said the damage was cosmetic. I tried a couple more times but they have the valves overnighted and fixed the next day before anything else could happen.

How the hell would he know? I'm sorry, is this "Shop Foreman" also a piston engineer? Obviously, the valve contact is going put stress risers in the pistons where they hit. It sounds like he is at about the same mental capacity as the guy who put the cam chain on the wrong sprocket.

It called, "Let's get the guy out the door, and if it blows up, 'oh, well'."

I would file complaints with your state's automotive repair board, and BBB.

I took this from the Chevy Warranty Section.

Covered for 3 years/36,000 Miles
GM is committed to ensuring satisfaction with your new vehicle. Your dealer also wants you to be completely satisfied and invites you to return for all your service needs, both during and after the warranty period. To help keep things in proper working order, Chevrolet will warrant each 2012 model year Chevrolet passenger car, light-duty truck, crossover or van for 3 years or 36,000 miles (whichever comes first; see dealer for details) with no deductible, from the original in-service date of the vehicle, for warrantable repairs that are required as a result of defects due to material and/or workmanship to the powertrain components.

Not your dealer .
