Cool Trade in

the time has come for me to move on from my camaro. i got it appraised and was offered 14,000 has anyone else ever gotten that low of an offer. its a 1 Lt with the rs package automatic transmission with 25,000 miles not it. any thoughts would be great. every web site I've been to say poor 16,000 to high is 19,000 is high. i would like to get 17,000 for it. other than selling it out right. any help would be great.

14K on a trade is about right. Keep in mind, the value of the trade really is not important, it's the end price after the trade that is.

In other words the more you get on a trade, the less the new car will be marked down.

Well, for all intents and purposes it's 6 years old. You could probably get $17K retail - on a private sale.

I agree with Therealbigrich. I took my wife's car (Kia Optima - so not a Camaro) to one dealer, and they offered 9-10k for it. Took it to another, and I was offered 12k. In both instances, I already knew the price of what I was thinking about buying before trade price was discussed.

To me that seems a little low, I negotiated with the dealership on both price of car and trade-in (worked them to my adv), and I got $12k for my '11 LS Man w/ 54k miles on it. I had 20" rim upgrade, fogs, and hurst short-throw, but still feel I got fair, you should at least get a little more w/ RS package, LOW mileage, and being auto vs Man

Here in Northern Va, the dealers tell you they offer what the going rate is, and it is NEVER anywhere near what the online places show.

I still think that 14,000 is very low price the car. I just think it is wrong.

For a 5 year old car that if bought new would be paid off? 14k is a pretty fair trade offer. I paid 19k for my '14 with 8k on it so if the dealer paid anymore then 16k they wouldn't have made any money.

I think it's low but you gotta think about how much can or will be able to sell the car for . But I think you should get offered 15 or 16 should be the price because of course your mods don't add to the value when trading it in , most of the times!
