Remote start / my link help!! - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

My car did not come with remote start. I've had the dealer install the factory remote start. I have the factory remote start key/fob. It works fine BUT since the vin doesn't show it was a factory option the onstar my link smartphone app doesn't "see" the remote start function. Does any one know if the bcm can be reprogrammed so onstar sees it? I've called onstar and gm. No real help. Going to the dealer next week. Thought I'd go in with some info if its available

I had remote start installed and it was never recognized on the onstar app /:

Visit onstar.com/mobile to enable the functions. When you visit the site there is a button at the top of the screen that says ONSTAR SERVICES. By placing the arrow over it a window pops up and under CONNECTIONS you want to click ONSTAR REMOTELINK MOBILE APP. On the page that opens, directly under the pic it says CONNECTIONS on the left and directly to the right it says EXPLORE and MANAGE. Click the MANAGE tab. Then you will see CHANGE REMOTE COMMAND SETTINGS and under it click ENABLE and SAVE CHANGES.

I just did this and it works - I did it on my truck and like you ONSTAR or the dealer could not help - all that is required is when you use the app is you enter your PIN code on the next attempt.

Thanks but it didn't work. I have all the other my link functions lock horn enav tire pressure etc. but no remote start

curious does your RPO list show AP8? Mine did on the truck so that may be the difference

Think I may of answered my own question - remote start not available as option till 2013 year? May be reason Onstar does not list it due to GM not making it an official offering till this year for 1LT

Remote start doesn't show for me on the OnStar sight. I emailed, and got no useful response, so I called and got the answer. Which was no go. Boo.

Should be on a silver tag in the glove box

Sorry for the inconvenience. In order for the remote start feature to work, it must be factory installed in your vehicle. The OnStar system requires connection to specific ports within the vehicle in order for us to access the information.
