I wasn't saying it isn't fast just that it wasn't a v-8. I did not know they started stuffing a v-8 on board until just now. the last time I had checked their website when I lived in their home state I knew that they only had the n/a and s/c honda motor. That thing has got to be crazy fast with a v-8.

look, our engine can make 400+ HP. all you have to do it bore it out. stroke it. make it a 4L, nice long tube headers, a very well ported and polished set of heads. a good high flow intake manifold, nicely ported throttle body, good intake and a good tune. shit we could prob make like 420-430 if some one really wanted to go at it.

you would have to build the motor with things that don't yet exists for us. cams, valves, lower spring rate valve springs. LOTS of money lots of time in the shop.

The nsx was boasting an 8,000 rpm redline with it's v6 in the 90s and hundreds of owners are running higher limiters on tuned cars, up to 9k in many instances. The aerial atom 500 has a redline over 10k with a v8 using balance shafts to counter inherent balance problems. Flat 4s (some designs) and 6s, straight 6s and flat/v12s experience natural balance by design, but the other configurations can use balance shafts, and they do, to spin just as fast. The straight 4 isn't as inherently balanced as the configurations I listed previously, but some of the highest revving engines around are inline/straight 4s. The advantage of the boxer is in the packaging and it's effects on the car as a whole.

I don't think that a 7000 rpm redline at 11.4:1 compression is too bad for my little V6 Camaro. It revs a lot higher than my 73 Corvette with a stout 350!
