A story to share about a 67' Camaro...
So Easter Sunday I went to meet with my parents at their new house they just moved into...my dad mentions to me about the guy at the end of their cul de sac having a 67' Camaro that sounds amazing and that I should go knock on the door and see if he was there so I could check it out...
Against my better thoughts with it being a "family" day I went and knocked on the door...no response... Well about an hour later we're getting in the car to leave to dinner with family and I hear it fire up and he backs it out of the garage...BEAUTIFUL 67' Camaro red with custom black stripes on it (they were black stripes pearled with red so they had a red flake when you got up close)...aftermarket wheels, definitely not a stock motor...what I would call a resto-mod... I introduce myself and start talking Camaros with him and mention about Camaro Fest that I had just attended and he says "Well....do you want to go for a ride in it?" my exact response was "HELL YEAH!!" Can't pass an opportunity like that one up... It's a 350 motor bored .30 over with a pretty aggressive cam in it...aftermarket suspension setup for track racing...this thing was amazing!! Dakota digital gauges and an aftermarket 6-speed mated to the 350 motor...just a beautiful car inside and out... Well as we get to driving he tells me the history of the car...belonged to his mother who bought it brand new in...yep...December of 1966...it is originally a V6 motored car but has since been changed to a 350 from a different 67' Camaro he found...as the story goes he moved from Chicago to Texas when he was young and as his mother passed he went back to clean out her old house on the outskirts of town and found this diamond in the rough in the back of the barn on blocks with 185,000 miles on the odometer...tired she was but alive...he then began to restore the car piece by piece and in time it ended up the beauty I saw on that Sunday... The amazing part of the whole deal is the build number on the car... Build number 1,444... I was riding in one of the earliest pieces of history that helped bring about my 5th gen today...just incredible feeling when he told me that... Long story I know and theirs actually a lot more to it than what I mentioned but figured I'd share with you guys and let you know that old school is not dead and there are still survivors on the road still out there and you never know where you'll find'm at...

I did not grab a pic because after going for the ride and talking with him some more and having him check out my car I was already an hour late for dinner and had to haul butt out of there....
but... I know where he lives and know he would be more than willing to let me come back and grab some pictures of his car... I'll add some more stories from this whole meeting as the thread progresses

I was literally sitting in the passenger seat after he told me that just looking at everything in amazement...after all these years still on the road and the pure family history tied to the car gave me chills sitting in there!!

Pretty awesome story man. There is a guy around here has 67ish mustang he takes to car shows. Thing is absolutely pristine he has a board he puts in front of the car that tells the story of how it was found in a semi-trailer a few years back in mint condition, seemingly forgot about. Stories like that are great to hear!

The drag strip is like sniffing glue, it's cheap, it's a decent buzz, it doesn't last long and they are all the same. Road racing is like China White Heroin, the buzz is stronger, the high lasts for hours, it's extremely addictive and they are all different. I can't wait for my next Track fix.
