What should I expect at the track tonight....

My original plan was to go from never taking my car to the track to jumping right into a race on June 6th. Well tonight they are having a "Take it to the Track" night and I don't know what I should expect as far as trap times and speed. The elevation of the track is 5,764....eeek! :( Is this going to kill my time? The mods on my car are 85mm BBK intake and 85mm TB, SLP Lid, K&N, Smooth Bellow, Free Mods, Strut Tower Brace, SLP Pan Hard, Centerforce Stage 1 clutch, and exhaust system.

Well, your times won't be as good as racing down here closer to sea level. But, what should you expect? A whole hell of a lot of fun!!! I'm not going to guess on trap times, 60 ft times, etc cause all that depends upon the driver. I will say that I expect it to be just a little slower than mine w/ about the same mods.

Tag that would be great if I could close it within a couple of MPH of yours and LOW 13's! I just have this suspicion that I won't be able to break 100MPH and will be hitting 15's. I will be SO disappointed. I guess I'm just keeping my expectations low so Hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised.

What's the best way to warm up the tires without burning up the clutch? I haven't ever tried power braking with this car, but my last one I did (probably entirely wrong) and the clutch went within a couple weeks after.

I'd get the RPMs up to about 4k and side step the clutch and hit the brake with your left foot. for the burn out. I take it street tires so DRIVE AROUND THE WATER BOX. very dangerous for cars running behind you if you do so. track water down the track and a way faster car that's running slicks will have a hell of a time keeping it on the track if that happens. but first time at the track I'd just say watch several races close to the starting line before you take your car up to race. it will take several trips to the track to start to get the hang of everything honestly. but the mile high city you'll see probably a full second off of someone at sea level or close to sea level.

Thanks Boxmonkey! And I will stay out of the water box! I'll let you know how I do.
