I can't fit one on my flat bed Epson printer scanner. Do you have the laser scanner that would do the interior surfaces...

That above looks pretty close to complete for a Vette... just need to design the tailshaft housing for a Camaro...

That would definitely determine the time it would take. I would guess a few hours just on the outside. I'm a stickler for fine surface finishes so I would probably have a couple hours left on it. Fine finishes = small stepover = lots of passes in the toolpath = lots of time. And we all know that time is money.
I agree on the fine finish aspect... nothing looks better...

True... lots of material to cut out...

And long tooling would also more than likely be required which would reduce rigidity and causes you to have to back off your speeds and feeds.

Yeah, I was thinking about that as well....

Yeah, it has been a while... but.. my heads are in, the new ones... and my shortblock is enroute as I type this.. however, with my work schedule as sketchy as it is, and has been, it'll still be a while before she is back together and ready to run... I'm guessing it'll be the March Texas Mile in Victoria... we'll be adding a few more varied types of sensors to help prevent a repeat performance..

I'm looking further down the road and considering a transmission from PPG to eliminate missed shifts and or lifting, but the oilfield will have to come back for that to happen...

If the clutch is disengaging, the synchro box should be able to shift ok....it does just seem to be a struggle to get a 100% perfect clutch though !

On a cost point, would an auto be an option, would it even be cheaper than a sequential ?

What are PPG asking over there for their box ? What power do they rate it for ?

Did you ever contact that guy from Finland who made his own custom gear set and billet case for his Vette ?

I mentioned it before...but again unproven at your sort of power, but the Samsonas sequential is very keenly priced, at least this side of the Atlantic. Not sure what it would end up like over there.

Or can RPM or anyone faceplate the Magnum yet ? Ultimately that would be the cheapest option if it can be done.

Corey met with one of the guys from PPG. I never received any reply form the Fins... my understanding with the clutch is centripetal force causing the clutch discs to cup at the RPM we are turning... therefore the clutch friction surface at the inner dimensions may not be fully disengaging... This was a problem with the twin disc on Mustangs when they first came out with the 7500 rpm redline... and I'm going 1500 rpm above that with four discs... as for an auto, we haven't seen any hold up to this power level over a mile with the weight of these cars... A friend of mine goes through several autos each event and he's substantially lower in power... he had a sponsor for transmissions and parts, to no avail...

The auto guys always claim how great, reliable, superb, everything autos are...but the reality seems there are just as many problems with an auto setup as manual.

But clutches...there are clearly clutches out there that will shift at almost any rpm, but probably few that will hold the power needed.

Given you really only use 4 gears here ? Would something like a faceplated TKO600 be an option ? Which is stronger, a Magnum or TKO ?

This webpage claims a faceplated Magnum....although photos just look like Liberty's

Hey Robert. Good to see you around again.

Sad to hear I won't be meeting your or Brandi at Camarofest this year.

Good luck with work and I'll look forward to hearing about your efforts in the mile when you get Brandi put back together.

We actually use gears 1-5...though I shift into 5th at 220-225 if it's a good pass... when we get the gearing in the transmission correct for first gear so I can get off the line a little quicker, I hope to be doing that between the 1/2 mile and 3/4 mile mark...

He's a Circle Member...

No explanation necessary because he's already proved his commitment.

But we will keep twisting his arm.
