Doing a presentation
So in this class I'm taking we have to do a 5 minute presentation on some new thing in technology. So I chose the 2010 Camaro! Other than the AFM, what are some technological things about the Camaro that might be relevant?
C'mon, show one of your Pontiac brethren and future Camaro brethren some love...

That's awesome! I wish I was taking some course where I could do a presentation about the Camaro! but all my M.I.S courses don't really discuss about cars... :(
Well I think there's a lot you can talk about. You could talk about how technologically advanced the V6 is? Just sell it like a salesman would. Here's the link to the Salesperson reference guide... http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6040 Good Luck!

Oddly enough, this is the course I have to do a presentation in: CIS 120 - Intro to Logic and Problem Solving (for Computers). She said that one of the employers stressed to her the importance of future programmers having good communication skills.

No way a C.I.S course huh? Well I see where's she's going with that. That is very true. Communication skills are very vital especially in the I.T. field. Especially if you want to be like a systems analyst where you have to work with non-technical users. We M.I.S majors actually share a few classes with C.I.S majors at the university that I attend. Good fields to get into right now. The demand is there. Good luck with your presentation.

I would agree with your instructor. The single most important thing I look for when I hire is the applicant's ability to communicate. AFM sounds like a good topic and if you can pick the topic always choose one that interests you.

You could also focus on the design process of the car, rather than few particular parts. The entire design process of vehicles has changed dramatically over the years and they now rely heavily on graphic designers and 3D modeling programs to render everything out prior to building anything. Maybe you could get some "inside" info from fbodfather or someone else? Who knows...

Read an interesting comment about Cheryl Prichers job, she is something of a liason between design, and engineering.
Engineering...Those design guys don't need that! Design...Those engineers won't give us what we need! If you can, interview Cheryl. The long shaft/short shaft rear axles... The stamping techinque and die for the 1/4 panels/roof rail...(Camaro specific) You might ask Pedders what is so unique about the 4.5 link rear suspension, or, if you can find Oppen's address at GM...

Anyway, Back on topic. You could talk about the direct injection technology also. And the Flex assembly line also???

DI, VVT, DOHC (though its "advancement"-factor is debateable), you could talk about the HID headlamps as they contrast to regular halogen-bulb lights. I would spend some time talking about the rigidity of the car's structure.
The whole door-frame and rear "haunch" is all one, huge stamped piece. GM's supposedly never done this before, and it contributes significantly to the car's strength. |

Hydroforming? I think that was used in the Camaro.
