I thought almost all regular cars have it to some degree, but I have not driven a newer manual. So I would say yes, tho I have been known to be wrong...

LS3 SS will.
Use a $20 CAGS eliminator from JEGS to defeat it, if desired.

+1. There's a guy I used to know with a 4thgen(or was it a Corvette??) that bought one of those. Forgot where he got it from, though...
I always chuckle at the thought that just stepping on the pedal a little harder will shut it off, too. |

You're right though, I've heard many people say they never got "aided" even after years of driving. You can get them many places, Summit Auto racing, and it includes a weather-tight plug to seal the tranny solenoid connector for future use.

Roughly, it says the engine is warm, the throttle is 25% or less, in 1st gear. Energize solenoid in tranny blocking 2nd and 3rd gears. Driver forced to shift from 1st to 4th.

CAGS = MANDATORY 1st to 4th shift when easy driving...
SOLUTION = STAND ON THE GAS! (or get the eliminator) |

When driving easy (ie. cruising around town), I wouldn't want to shift 4 or 5 times. And I already went from 1st right to 3rd in my friends car as regular practice....huh... |

I can see skipping second, but third too? from 25% throttle in first to go straight to fourth is a bit of a jump. I mean, the car will be going like 5mph when shifting to 4th. I don't ever hit 4th until at least 40mph. ah well, I won't knock it until I try it

I did mine in '99 with a 5-pack of 2.2 OHM resistors from Radio Shack. The pack cost $0.99 at the time and only 1 is needed. Undid the harness, plugged it in and taped it back up.
So far so good! http://clarkes96ss.cz28.com/SSFAQ.html#cags http://www.fastz.com/z06/CAGS.html Best regardSS, Elie

It's easy to work around or get rid of it. The car will pull 4th in that condition with no problem.

Yes, I have heard that the resistor trick works well, and for super cheap. |
