1LE for Autocross
I am just wondering how competitive the 1LE will be in SCCA F Stock (Street) and if the O.E. tires will get the job done. I'm planning on running mine in that class in 2014. It's a conclusion they are great track cars, but will that carry over for autocross?

You will be amazed .... and so will everyone watching!
I did autocross this last year and while I'm not that good a driver, the car really made up the difference. I overhead one guy saying to another (after my run) I didn't know Camaros could do that?!!! lol |

I plan on Auto-X next year just for fun. I wasn't sure which class to run with, I know stock we can run FS but can we still run that with a couple bolt on components to the engine with stock suspension/tires? (I have no clue about SCCA classes)...
It would be cool to find some people in my area that would join me and give me tips when I start next year. |

I think running stock class is where it would be most competitive without spending a ton of money. My plan would be to do an alignment and install a lighter weight catback. See what the balance of the car is and change the front or rear bar if necessary. If it beats the Mustangs regionally I'd be happy. I think the E46 M3's could be a real challenge depending on the course.
From what everyone is saying I'm thinking it is going to be a must to get some heat in the oe tires to get them to stick. Cooler days might be a challenge

Our (SS) cars are E Street Prepared right out of the box.
We run against the BOSS Mustangs. Get the rule book here: http://scca.cdn.racersites.com/prod/...ated%205-1.pdf

I've auto crossed mine this passed summer and ill tell you this car rocks. I had a heavy modded v6 meaning all bushings and sways and other suspension and frame pieces. My 2lt was a awesome autocross car for the past four years. But my 1le is great and I look forward to adding more miles to it.
I'm thinking braided brake lines and upgrading the pads. I'm also thinking of a set of brake pads just for the track/autocross days. Do you guys think this is a good idea? For the few that don't know about are brake setup. The pads only take a few min to change. Also what tire pressures do you guys run? I run from 32psi to 36psi. |

They are phenomenal in autocross. I did my first in the 1LE and it got me a 1st place finish. I was in modified class because of my headers though.

The 1LE is a great starting point for autocross....driver skills determine how competitive it can be....

I wonder when they moved it to F Stock? Well, my SS is ESP due to all the mods.

Next year going up or down 1" in wheel diameter is legal. I'd go down to 19's and run 305s square (probably Hankook RS3 which is a lot faster than OE GY's) like the Z28.
Would be a lot of fun, fast and reliable.

The 1LE is amazing in autocross. Turn off the assists so you get the acceleration out of the curves. We raced in SMC class, which I was told this past spring is a new class.

I will be going from a STX classed WRX that I've raced for 9 years to a 1LE this year. I can't wait!

I ran mine at the last autox of the season in FS and the car was great. For 2014 no more r comps in stock classes meaning the 1le with its wide ass tires will be competitive
