As far as who I'll order from here locally? All I can really say is stay away from Coggin. They are awful awful. I've been taken by them more times than I care to admit. Mostly on repair work. They know nothing about the camaro as of the last time I went in to the sales office to talk with them.

I'd look into the dealership in Saint Augustine, or maybe a bit further south.

I've heard a few good things about the dealer in Palatka and Middleburg also.

Have you talked to any dealers yet?

I've been going back and forth myself about the same thing. I have a Blk/Blk 2SS/RS ordered with the 6AT but think I'm going to change order to the 6MT. I know it's cheaper and faster and funner, but the wife can't drive a stick (hopefully she can learn)and I'll have to get myself another car (3rd) for winters here in Michigan. And, remote start and Paddle Shifters are nice...

I would bet money development will be cut back on them a few years being that the C7 is delayed (and they are on the brink of disaster). Its possible GM would drop this new engine into the C6 which would mean the Camaro would get it the year after... The earliest would be probably 2012.

Sorry, like the Z28 seems like Vaporware to me, and not worth the wait, you could be waiting forever and thats less time to enjoy what you could have now. gtahvit however waiting to be debt free, that is a smart move. Good luck!

I don't know if any of you other fence sitters has had a stick and then an auto in the past, but I have, and I'll tell you I think those memories might be the decider for me. My '85 Z28 was auto and the entire time I owned it I missed not being able to bang gears. It just wasn't what a V8 muscle car is about.

I've been dealing with the auto in my 350Z ok, but it's a ricer. I don't know, maybe that term isn't fair...it is very quick, but I don't consider it a muscle car. I do know I thought it was what I wanted, but shortly after buying it I realized it just wasn't me, it wasn't what I really wanted to be driving. At the time though there wasn't too much else out there except the Mustang GT.

PLUS, the wife can't drive a stick!!!!

ive never had a stick before, but after driving my friends stick mustang a couple times, i figured its something i could get used to.

ive got many reasons i dont want an auto anymore, had a trans-line break miles away from home, if you drag race your gonna need a stall and a cooler, ls3 > l99 i want the most power i can get, and i dont like AFM sorry but i dont want to change the exhaust and then sound like a weedwacker going down the highway

so.... you are comparing a v8 manual to a v-6 auto....

drive it and see. drive 2000 mile roundtrip with droning exhaust the whole way.

They have direct injection. Big boost in efficiency. Can keep diplacement the same and boost horsepower, or lower displacement, maintain power, and increase fuel efficiency.

Will be a couple years, at least. They may get back-burnered with everything except the VOLT.

No, the engine has nothing to do with what I'm talking about. I'm talking about shifting the gears yourself, in the easy, or aggressive manner you choose, and being involved in driving the car, versus just sitting there and letting the car do it for you. It's hitting all the gears to get to the traps first and feeling like a big part of the victory, instead of just sitting in the seat and smashing the throttle to the floor. Hitting each gear just right takes skill, adds to the competition and the adrenaline rush. I suppose it's something you have to experience to appreciate. A manual isn't right for everyone, which is fine, as long as they're happy.

Now, if I were comparing the '06 V6 350Z to the '85 V8 Z28, regardless of transmission, it would be heavily lopsided in favor of the 350Z with less weight and 82 more HP, but that's as it should be with twenty-one more years of technology advancement.

I was on the fence for awhile, contempleting forever like a few of you guys ... i too drove a 350z manual, I liked it a lot, I use to run it at the track in bremerton washington every weekend... I miss that so much! that's what made me decide..

as far as the wife not knowing how to drive one... go to hertz and rent a manual transmission car and take the insurance!

yeah, but when you have a 400hp v-8 with tapshift, compared to a (however much power a 350z has) v-6 auto, things are a little different.
