I'm not puttin one on mine until I get pulled over. I'll pay the 50 or 60 dollar fine. That bracket is a damn eye sore. Why the hell is this even law. I mean really. When u get pulled over the police go straight to the rear of your car to get your plate numbers. Just dumb.

What dealer are you dealing with? Did they say they wouldn't install it? I will ordering mine soon and do not want a bracket installed on mine as well.

Honestly I think the bracket shown in the 1st post is fine. The car looks better without it, but the law's the law, and since I'm going to be pulled over by a cop who just wants to look at the car sooner or later I'd rather not give him any reason to write me up. I want my local police to remember me as "Monty, good guy with a sweet car," not "Monty, thinks he's too good for the rules."

I figure that since WA requires the front plate, when I finally do buy my 5th gen, I'll go down to the place that painted my 95 Z/28, and have them paint the plate bracket to match the car. Won't cost much and it will sure improve the looks.
I do wish Chevy had made the front end with plates in mind. Something like the front bumber of my 2K Vette would be cool.

I posted this in another thread, but it seems appropriate here also. In VA, the front plate is also required. There is no way that I am drilling holes in the bumper of my nice new beautiful ride. So I contacted a guy who makes no-drill brackets for other cars. He sent me a prototype this week. A few pics are posted below. It uses bolts and rubber bushings to attach to the lower grill and doesn't require any drilling or frankly much install effort at all.
I hope to try to fit it on a V6 next week and will take plenty of pictures for everyone. As soon as I can get my hands on a V8, I will get pictures of it also. The welds on the back of this bracket are rough so we can line up the bends, but they will be perfect on the production one. As soon as I have pictures and ordering information I will post all that up. |
