About Oil change!

Hello everyone,

Today is my first oil change for 3,793 milleage on the car drove 170 miles from my place to the dealership. I bought this OLM Care Plan from the dealership but the service guy mentioned that it was too early for the maintenance but still they proceed to do it. He just advice me to wait until the OLM indicator illuminates or at least 20% life on my oil or after 8 months before the next maintenance for the oil change.BTW on the manual at least 7500 miles then you can change the oil. So which rule do you follow on your oil maintenance?

I always do oil change 1 between 500 and 1000 miles

After this I usually change my truck oil at 3k but this is usually around 6 months. To me it's cheap piece of mine

The camaro only has 950 miles since April when i bought it and I just did the first one at 750

Do it every fill-up of gas, can't go wrong there, never can be too sure.

You can't be serious, right? So you're saying to change your oil every time you fill up your car? That would be an oil change every 300-400 miles. And at a price of $50-$80 per oil change. That would be a lot of money just wasted, Pointless.

Before it was said to change your oil every 3000 miles. But today's engine oils are better enginereed to last longer. You can even go 5000 miles between oil changes. It all depends on how you drive your car.

And about the Oil Life Monitor on your car, that is based on the way the car is driven. So, you can trust it if you want to, or do your oil changes between that 3000-5000 mile range.

Do mine once a year when I store the car for winter. That makes it between 3000 and 4000 miles between changes. Normal summer driving for me.

I change mine when the OLM tells me to... it's usually 9,000-10,000 miles.

I changed my Camaro's oil last month for the first time at around 5,250 miles but my Camaro is almost 3 years old. I used 5-30 Mobile1 w/ a K&N oil filter. That was $80 and I did the oil change myself.

Hmmm...I hear a lot of sarcasm in the original comment. He's trying to make an obvious point regarding a common philosophy; ie, 3000 miles is a good frequency, therefore more frequent is more better (yeh, the grammar is intentionally incorrect.)

Yea, I would suppose you can't go wrong with changing your engine oil so frequent. But, it is not necessary. If you want to spend all the money, go ahead, be my guest.

I was just giving my opinion, just like everyone else can.
