Heard a noise / Murder suspect on the move

Just woke up because my wife heard a noise & saw something move in the living room a few minutes prior. We both heard a noise, so I locked the door, got dressed, & grabbed the shotgun(pumped it & turned off the safety). Started going throughout the house & every room & closet was empty, even checked the garage. In the end, we didn't find anything out of place, or any doors or windows unlocked. I'm 21 & this is the first time I've actually had the feeling of being threatened with my life. If this guy comes comes to our house, he better pray that I don't shoot him for making me feel like this. Oh, and I go to University of West Florida (UWF) and he caused our school to go on lockdown for almost 3 hours, give or take, they canceled any classes after 4pm.

Since I can't go to sleep, I'll be working on homework

Double check everywhere....in all cabinets, behind doors, in the showers, above cabinets, etc. If it has enough space to get in.....

But, there is one thing burglars don't like....and that's the unmistakable sound of a 12 gauge shotgun being pumped and shotgun shell loaded.

And chances are everything is fine. Just lock it all up....leave a light on if you want....thieves don't like lights....inside or out.

Thanks for the tips, only thing I didn't check was the cabinets, checked them all now.

I love the sound of a shotgun being pumped. Got 2 bird shots & 1 buck shot just in case, lol.

Always check behind you. Murderous people seem to favor that spot above all others.

Get 2x4 shot- good stuff. $27ish a box though.

I assume you called the police and they checked outside your house and the neighborhood right?

Becareful of your load...and where you shoot in relation to where others are in your house. Shotguns go through drywall real easy

Why would that be an LOL. That's sorta insane to reply to "hey watch out with that- it'll go through drywall" with LOL isn't it?

Edit: BTW- the 2x4 ammo is pretty good for not going to far. It'll destroy your drywall, but it's energy is spent in the process. Here's Remington's own write up for example:

Remington HD Ultimate Home Defense shotgun ammunition features the same pellet material as the popular Wingmaster HD™ tungsten-bronze hunting ammunition and is offered in two loadings. Consumers can choose from a load of BB’s for the highest terminal energy or a duplex mixture of #2 and #4 pellets for excellent pattern density and outstanding stopping power with a reduced chance of over-penetration.
