GM should do this as it fills the empty space inexpensively.

A black Suburban full of accountants and GAO auditors might not be able to get to the true answer, LOL.

By now the original tooling and development costs are probably paid for but you still have the ongoing development costs for ZL1, 1LE, Z/28 etc. that keep it a mystery.

Seriously, people know but from the outside looking in it's really hard to decipher.

Wow! I hope it's made them money. I can say the Camaro team seems very happy.

Of course it's made them money. The association with the Transformers movies certainly helped; but I think the new Camaro is big part of the new GM's success.

You can measure the profitability of the 5th Gen Camaro by the enthusiasm it generates within GM. The ZL1, 1LE and now Z/28 would not exist if the Camaro were not profitable. Taking it one step further, GM is leveraging the Camaro assets to improve overall profitability. You can now order a 1LE parts upgrade at the parts counter or bump your SS to a ZL1 diff kit not to mention the Pedders pioneered CTS-V / ZL1 brake upgrade. The Camaro TEAM is running a profit center that delivers permagrin.

Thanks Pete, that's my feeling as well. My question was based off of someone that is (supposedly in their own mind) in the know spouting off in another thread.
The excitement by Camaro Team members just screams its making money!

I just went to a dealership with a big load of new '14s.

More power to everyone that likes the refresh, but I still prefer the original meaner-than-a-pitbull look of the original 5th gens.

The new ones look good, mind you, but not as distinctively Camaro in my mind. I always preferred the first generation over the second as well.

To each his own.

Is that going to be close to the widebody(s) that a ZR1 or Z06 might get? GRRRR!!!
