You stupid camaro owners, you got hosed...buying an inferior muscle car like that...don't you know the GT500 will never be defeated, its invinceable. Just sprinking pixie dust into the airfilter is worth 100rwhp. They run low 10's on street tires with just a tune. Your cars will be lucky to run 12's with a blower. That L99 will be outrun by V6 mustangs. Hail the 500!!!
Man do I feel better.

I would expect and hope that a car that costs 22% more would win a drag race. The same holds true else where in the automotive world. A Z06 costs 22% more than a base vette. I'd hope like hell it would beat the base vette and handly.
I do think a 22% preimum for a .1 or .2 advantage doesn't look too impressive when all is said and done. |

Hey now, that is a touchy subject until I start seeing some L99 times below the mid 13's............

And the Hennessey also has nothing to do with Chevy directly. They're a business, that doesn't happen to buy in large volumes, and they need to make money too. All they did was simple bolt ons that anyone could do for half the price that they charge. Lingenfelter (maybe someone else, though I don't know who else it would be) offers a supercharger that allows you to keep the warranty I believe.

My biggest WTF is why are they comparing the GT500 to the Camaro SS? They are not in the same playing field at all.

hey now.....my L99 is running its advertised times. I am running slightly under 5.0 in the 0-60 and a 13.1 in 96 degree weather here in North Carolina. I have about 1300 miles on the car and it hasn't let me down once. All you gotta do is turn traction and stability control off and put it in sport mode. Stomp the gas and bam........I get 4.8, 4.9 going 0-60 steadily everytime I run. I will try to find my last time slip. I think it is in my glovebox, hopefully I didnt throw it away when I cleaned out my car this weekend. And yes, the GT500 guys around here all give me the thumbs up when they see the car. It is a mutual respect thing, both cars are bad ass but I do agree with the fact that the GT500 times at the track are not worth the extra money for one. Very nice car, but not worth it unless you mod it. I got my 2SS/RS for around 36k and with the supercharger I am going to put on with some other little goodies it will blow it out of the water for cheaper. My 97 Trans Am is highly modded running low 11's in the 1/4 with only 425HP and no spray.

Problem too much hp+ not enough rubber on the road= slower 1/4 mile. swap the treads on the two and see what happens. I have a gt500 and found out very quickly that it's a lot of motor for those tires. I'm ordering wider 20's and lite weight rims. I hope to get to the track before the end of the summer to test.
Please don't bash me for owning a gt500. My wife just bought a 2lt/rs. I love the camaro. My order got messed up on my 2ss and wanted a hot rod for the summer. |
