Getting these lowered bad boys off the ground

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good, low profile jack for lifting your Camaro off the ground?

My Camaro is lowered 1.5 inches below stock ride height and I have an elaborate process to get my jack under the car. I have to drive up onto 2x6s to get enough clearance to get my jack under the car. I'm wondering if anyone has found a good, low profile jack that can fit under a lowered car. It would be a bonus if it was light enough to take to track events without breaking your back.

Thanks in advance.

I have encountered the same situation recently when I installed my Heritage Grille.

Here's one from Northern Tools:

http://www.northerntool.com/shop/too...5429_200345429

It's got a 3 1/2" minimum lift, which shouldn't be a problem getting under the frame rail. My only concern is the length of the arm to get to the frame rail.

However, Omega makes one with a longer arm (I think I'm gonna end up getting this one:

this one has a minimum lift height of 2 1/2", but is a little more expensive.

I was hoping to find an aluminum one,,,but they're all too small in terms of the lifting arm length to get under the car.

hope this helps

Allen

I got a craftsman low profile. Works great and has dual piston so it goes up super fast until it feels resistance then goes slow.

No clearance issues unless I do something dumb... which yes, believe it or not, HAS happened!

... but my jack is crazy heavy. I also got it to lift my 3/4 ton diesel truck so taking it places is not really feasible.

Thanks for all the recommendations. Looks like I'm busting out the credit card and doing some damage. Thanks again

What I've been doing so far is drive the car onto some 1x6 that I have cut to 2' lengths. Then I can use my 4 ton craftsman.

One more question. For those of you using the harbor freight jack, what lift points do you use to lift your Camaro? Like jrhaus76 states, the arm looks pretty short. I'm wondering what points you use to hoist your car, given that you're happy with the product. Thanks.

I've got the cheap craftsman 2 1/2 ton and it fits under my car (eibach springs/sways and GFX) just fine. I have to slide it in from the tire back (fronts only) but it gets the job done for cheap. (I got the jack, stands and ramps for $40 or $50.)

I use the factory lift points on each of the corners. There is a notch cut in the sheet metal where the jack should be placed.

My sister's boyfriend works for harbor freight and he told me that this jack is on sale this weekend for $59. Not a bad deal. I'm going to pick one up tomorrow.

Do it! I have one (different model though) and it works just fine. Just remember to ALWAYS use jack stands. DO NOT trust your life to the jack.

Same goes for any jack but double for a cheap one.

I use a craftsman - bought at sears. I turn the wheel all the way to lock then slide it between the tire and rocker panel. Works just fine.
