Hi boys

There are only 5 in my group that I know of and one of those includes meeting up with Banshee (Tom) along the route in Burlington as he comes in from the west on 4 hours of sleep.

Now as to the important things...

Duty Free opens at 8:00 am- somehow I know that for a fact.

So... 10 minutes at DF. At that time of the morning on the Rainbow Bridge it should take us NLT 10 minutes to get across and regroup. Then we meet up with Viper1Cobra just past the bridge since he's staying overnight on the Canadian side. That puts us on schedule to meet up with Tom in Burlington at 9:15-9:20. It's roughly and hour and a half from Burlington to the Holiday Inn in Oshawa. HOWEVER, with the itinerary changes, Hylton thinks we should proceed straight to Martinrea and go to the hotel later. I tend to agree. Take it from there...

12:11 am on 8/18 - sitting at the airport in Denver waiting to catch the red-eye to JFK, then to Buffalo, hopefully by 10:00 am tomorrow. I can't commit to a caravan since we're flying standby (and after 30 hours of no sleep, it wouldn't be a good time for anyone). But, we'll catch up at the social gathering tomorrow night. See you all then - and safe travels!

If it's an hour and a half from Burlington to the Holiday Inn (I would have guessed it to be closer to 2, but with no traffic 1.5 is likely right) then you can save a 1/2 hour by going straight to Martinrea as it is in Ajax which is BEFORE (West) Oshawa. Just exit Westney Rd. Ajax and head south.

So can I bring (2) 750ml bottles (equaling 1.5L) of wine into Canada duty & tax free?

Quote:
You are allowed to import only one of the following amounts of alcoholic beverages free of duty and taxes:

1.5 litres (53 imperial ounces) of wine; or
a total of 1.14 litres (40 ounces) of alcoholic beverages; or
up to 8.5 litres of beer or ale.

Actually they have never really cared too much unless you have a pickup truck with the bed all full of beer. I have always gone by the following:
1 bottle of liquor (don't care about the size) or one case of beer AND
1 carton of cigarettes (if you smoke) per person PER DAY of stay and have never had any issues.

OK everyone - time to start your "What to bring" list. Post your suggestions. Leave out your "unmentionables" as we don't want people like Tom or Trent to get all worked up (of course Trent's not here to defend himself). I'm sure in reading other's suggestions some will say "oh yea - I better take that"

I'll Start
- Car
- Cover
- Detailing products (you can tell I'm going in order of importance right)
- Personal snacks/drinks
- Warm weather clothes (long-range forecast calling for 75-80 degrees)
- Sun block (lots of outdoor activites)
- Advil (lots of late night activities)
- Apparel for that wet stuff that sometimes falls from the sky ( just in case...I'm not saying the word)
- Folding chairs
- Passport / EDL (for our US friends)
- Camera
- Sharpies
- ......

I'll let everyone pick-up from here

What's the exact address of Martinrea (or full directions). Mapquest comes up with two locations within 10 miles of each other (that's 16.67 kilometers ) and I don't remember what the street name was; only that it was really cool seeing 30 Camaros on the offramp waiting to turn left last year.

Here ya go: http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&sourc...,0.111151&z=14

Exit off the 401 on Westney Road. The addresses for the different event venues are included in the first post. Plus there will be some directions between venues included in the goodie bags (for those who can't keep up with me )

Getting a goodie bag would assume I would see you prior to Martinrea which apparently I will not be. If you think about it, bring a dozen or so bags or at least the direction sheets for people like us who will be stopping at Martinrea prior to anything else.
