Transmission issue?
Couple days a go I took the camaro out. I was at an intersection and getting ready to turn. The light went to yellow so I got on the pedal so I wasn't sitting in the middle of the intersection. I got up to like 35 mph at about 3700 to 4000 RPMs. Once I was at 35mph I let off the accelorator, but my RPM was still running at about 4000 rmp and was slowly declining. I am wondering why didn't my transmission shift to drop the RPMs rather let the engine slowly slow down. Any ideas whats this could be. I was able to recreate it again today so I don't think it was fluke.

Any chance you were in sport mode?

you tricked the computer!! The computer sensed agressive driving and was prepared for it but when you backed off of the throttle, most likely during a function; it held the rpm's but you didn't execute the next logical move.

Yeah, I had that happen all the time with my v6 auto (assuming I'm understanding what you're explaining, sounds the same though). I wound excererate quickly, then hit a turn or let off the gas right when the transmission was about to shift. You're ECU is trying to figure out what you're doing and is trying to decide how to shift since you quickly changed you're driving.

While you're at it, assuming you have an auto, you owe it to yourself to pick up one of CFD's shifters that move your tap shift to the shifter itself. Excellent product and excellent service.

Correct I was in Sports Mode. Thanks everyone, that makes sense about tricking the computer. Started thinking there was something else more serious. As far as moving the tap shift down towards the shift...I have thought about doing it, but just having pulled the trigger yet.

sport mode holds the gear alot longer with aggresive driving. This is normal

I hate to sound like I hate technology but I really don't want my car to learn my "driving habit" and perform within a algorithm based on my "tendencies", I want my car to react to the input I have provided, regardless of "habit"... Basically, I want to drive the car, not the other way around...
Does anyone know how these are tracked and stored within the ECM and what defines a tendency/pattern within the car? Is there a way to bypass this "feature" without voiding the warranty? |
