For me, I went without my Camaro for 4 1/2 weeks, but in my case it was more traumatic because mine was stolen.

Two months, city hit my car while plowing for a snow storm, what's really funny is my car was parked out of the way covered with no intent of driving it, let alone taking the cover off, snow plow came down the street. And with so much room decided he wants to get as close as he can to my car and boom, hits my car, gets stuck, requires another plow to pull him out.

I feel your pain! I put mine in the shop 3/11/15. I don't expect to have it back for at least another week.

How does that work, do they look for x amount of time and then deem it as a total loss?

I was without my car from December 24th 2014 until February 5th 2015.
A good 6 weeks without my Camaro. My reason is that it got caught on fire (Passenger Headlight) thank goodness it wasn't a total loss. However the insurance company took the majority of the time to get it payed off. It would have been done in half that time but calling the insurance almost every day was a pain.

Be careful calling it a 'Maro' around these parts.

I know that pain man, I made the mistake in letting the insurance company pick the shop... Everyday after the first week I was calling the shop then insurance company that battle is so miserable.
