Odd Wheel Question
Before anybody asks, I'm just curious if I can do this to diagnose an issue. I plan on swapping the wheels back once I do a couple of quick test drives.
My question is can I swap the rear wheels to the front and the front to the back on a 2010 2SS/RS? I'm getting steering wheel vibration which an allignment, multiple balancing, and new tires have failed to correct. The wheels look fine but I just want to make sure we aren't fighting a bad wheel. Thanks for the help.

That will set of the stabilatrac lights on the dash as well if your lowered beyond stock watch for rubbing.
Is the vibration at low or highway speeds lets narrow down your search without working to hard first!? Have you checked you suspension for lose bolts or broken parts? New tires could have a broken belt in one of the tires. Wheels and tires could need rebalanced. Lots of different things could be going on the more info we have the better!

The vibration is at highway speeds around 60 MPH. I've noticed that if I accelerate hard to 60 the vibration is much more noticible. If I very slowly work my way up to 60 sometimes you can't feel it at all. Suspension has been looked at by multiple people with no noticable issues. Everything looks solid and correct. The issue started with the stock Pirellis. Having tried to balance them multiple times I figured that may be the case. I ordered a new set of Nitto Motivos and ran into the same issue. We balanced them about 4 times including a Road Force with no luck the issue would come back. Thinking the Motivos I received were bad Discount Tire Direct replaced them with another set and the issue persists. At this point, I believe my mechanic wants to bring in his friend who is a Chevy mechanic and begin to look at the rack and pinion for any possible issues.

How will that trigger a stabilatrac light?
Front and rear stock sizes should be the same diameter. Sent from my LS3 equipped Note2 using Tapatalk

The only difference between front and back wheels on the SS is 245 front 275 rears And 5mm on the offset plus 1" cross section So go ahead and try it , nothing bad will happen |

FanDamNCSU, if you hadn't done your testing yet, or got your problem fixed.....you CAN swap the wheels/tires and will not set any alarms or warnings. and putting the rears on the front will not cause any rubbing issues either. as I am running rears and 275's on all four corners and have been for nearly 2 years.

Hey guys thanks for all of the great replies. I guess I forgot I posted this thread.
Car is in the shop getting the rack replaced under extended warranty. A few mechanics (from different shops) conclusions after looking over everything was that it was going to be hit or miss and might as well replace the rack and see what happens. I should have it back within a few days. I never did swap the fronts and rears because I missed those posts - I'll go ahead and give that a shot if the rack doesn't work. I'll also check the rotors, however, I don't have any vibration when braking - braking is as smooth as the day I bought it. Thanks again for all of the help, I'll try to remember to post up any more details.
