The RS V6 Auto Handles Snow and Ice-Ice baby!

Sunday afternoon was the beginning of a long fantastic voyage from southwest Iowa to L.A. California. Rain, cold, mountains, and bland desert scenery where obstacles accounted for on this treck. So imagine my face upon entering Denver Colorado late sunday night... My Blue RS girl was never suppose to see snow...

Needless to say, my girl handled impressively through the State of Colorado. From the regular streets of Denver to the ice packed hills of steep hills of Vail Colorado, ( both visits where detours that ventured into the regular roads) my IMB beast was relentless..

Wow GM... WOW.. My 4th Gen would of been stuck or slippen all over the place ( with 17 inch all season tires at that). Needless to say, after that experience, my RS will keep her 20's on all winter long in Iowa.

i am impressed but i would still buy some top dollar winter tires if your going to be driving in the winter.
Ive felt the opposite, on dry cold roads (-3 C) my car had no traction.
Atleast we knnow the 20s can handle the snow well.

Please don't use "ice-ice baby" and "Camaro" in the same sentence. Cool and douche don't go together.

okey....

anywho.

Sharing my amazment of the handling of this car considering it is my fifth F-body I have peronally owned and the former 4 would of been in a ditch. To be honest, i did have my luggage in the trunk minus 45 lbs of muffler (removed and swapped with resonators)

i should be back in colorado saturday morning and i'll take some pics /video

That is very comforting! In the few days of cold we've had so far this year, I've yet to experience any dramatic loss of traction (knock on wood). I'll still be trying to find an old SUV to use for the winter once my tax credit comes in, but at least if it snows before then I won't worry too much about it.

About 3 weeks ago, I traveled through Ill., Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming, Utah and Nevada (1800 miles non stop). I hit rain, sleet and snow along with 24 ° temperatures and didn't have any trouble at all with my 2LT RS. Handled much better and more fun to drive than my 2003 vette on the same route.

edit:
Perelli states that there is only a 10% reduction in traction with temperatures less than 46° with the summer tires.

Don't doubt the OP but in less than 35 degree dry weather here in NJ the summer Priellis were like riding on skates so I changed to my 20" Bridgestone Blizzaks / new rims in mid-October.

Glad the drive was OK - 1 for 1 doesn't make a trend...

Don't want to get in the middle of anything, but a month ago we had a freak storm, temp dropped to 26 with slush every where. We had to drive 60 miles to Omaha, saw cars in the ditch on both sides of the Interstate. We had our Performance Pirellis on at the time and had no problems. BUT, I can tell that in deep snow; not so much. There is not much tread to bite into the surface. I too have had other Camaros and have had issues just getting up the drive way! Best to get a snow tire. And the 18s are just fine.

I thgink that the sta-bil a track has a lot to do with the good handling in inclement weather conditions.

Good to hear for those who will be picking theirs up in the winter but I think it is still highly recommended to purchase either all seasons or winter tires.
