How to make a car from 1969 pass registration?

What is everything I need to do to a car from 1969 to make it street legal? I saw someone driving around a beat up mustang and another driving around a skylark. What is everything that needs done assuming the frame and body are good to go.

What do you mean, what do you need to do? As long as the car has working lights, brakes and safety equipment the car was originally equipped with, you should be good to go.
Well im getting into cars, I just wanted to talk with you guys on the matter ,because I love going on the forums here just discussing things. I should do a disc brake conversion, make sure everything is fine with the lights, and put a sparco seat in there with a harness and it will be fine for inspection?

This basically. The car qualifies as an antique vehicle, and if you register it as an antique vehicle you don't have to comply with current emissions/safety laws.

FYI the 69 Camaro came with front disc brake. Most states and here in California you don't have to worry about smog laws.

Correct. It was an option.

Right on..... Stig. I just registered a 68 SS/RS 396/350 here in VA. I only had to certify the car met road worthy safety requirements and presented the notarized form to DMV. No Safety inspection required.

Nice. Told you you didn't need no safety inspection.

Where in VA are you?

The simple answer is that you need most everything that came on a base car functioning with some exceptions. There is no emissions tests for any model before '73 i think. You can change out most anything as long as the car isn't classified as a "specialty or reconstructed vehicle" which I understand to mean that the ride height is dramatically changed, or the frame is altered or similar modifications.
