The Search Function

Am I the only one that has noticed that the search function should be obliterated? Every thread I've looked at since being a member has had at least one post telling the thread starter to use the search function. I've used this function twice. Both times it brought up the most irrelevant threads on this forum.

Google works much better. Type in what you are looking for, then "Camaro5" and it usually brings up good results.

Best regards,

Also search for Posts, not Threads. Threads will look for anytime one of those words was mentioned in the thread but not in the same post. It will usually give you the info you are looking for.

But the Google method works really well also.

OP I'm agreeing with you! I'm not the most technical and my searches never work out right either. I guess DR Google is the best answer?

I use the search function all the time, with great success. I always go to the advanced tab, and search for words in titles and only search in the appropriate sections. Works great, imo.

Advanced works far better than the quick search, but I wouldn't quite go as far as calling it 'great'

It would be nice if v-bulletin overhauled their search function. I'm pretty sure thats the #1 complaint from forums running their software. On the other hand, every search that I've done on a non v-bul forum has been even more frustrating.

I guess we can never win.

The problem w/ Vbulletin is the newer the version the worse it gets. All the good programmers have left.

That's the nature of forums. New people come to learn from the rest of us who have been here for a while. The car has changed, but in reality it is the same vehicle.
