Fellow Eforce Owners

Recently I encountered a bird style squeak under my hood that would only happen during boost.I had this issue prior to replacing my valley pan leak and it was still present after. So naturally the belt was replaced and eliminated . After exhaustively checking and re affixing all of the vacuums and multiple test drives I noticed something odd. One of the 5mm Allen head bolts that hold the top supercharger plate was damp with oil. After looking up the design of the eforce there is no oil to leak. So This morning on a whim I checked the tightness of these bolts.... Yeah Not just one was loose But more like 6. My Unit has never been disassembled nor Painted .

And My Birdie....... She Flew away!

Did the bolts that hold the SC head to the lower intake have loctite blue on them?

I shall check mine - thanks for the heads up! I know they are only supposed to be 'torqued' to 11 inch pounds - not really tight at all.

My cover is leaking and i contacted edelbrock. They sent me a new gasket and longer bolts. In the email they say torque to 8 ft lbs. I havent had time to take the old cover off and install the new gasket. What did people use to access those back bolts? They are pretty tight to the firewall.

I was thinking about getting the covered painted since im taking it off. Any members on here have recommendations on where I could get the covers painted?

Longer Bolts huh........ My opinion they need alot more than 8ft lbs...... The front bolts were done with a T handle 5mm.... The rear Bolts were done with a convention 5mm key...The short end

Ill contact edelbrock tommorrow and get me my bolts and Gasket.

Any Body shop can paint it for you .....just be weary of paint on inside and seam area.

Thanks Ted for the compliment

Cpanther,

I do not think its something to worry about. Just make sure your bolts on top are snug before putting the supercharger on.

Just checked mine too....the two center ones (along the back of the unit) were loose and there was a trace of oil around them. The rest were plenty tight.

Good call.

I just checked and the center ones were a little loose also. This is an example of what makes these forums so great. Sharing information!
