This is so interesting. I have only had my car for about 20 hours now, and only have 64 miles on it, so I haven't hit it too hard just yet, but compared to my '93 Z28, this thing feels like it will run like a scalded dog.

I am experiencing some of the idle and take off issues that others are experiencing, so I may try this mod in another 1000 miles or so, if the positive reviews keep coming. Thanks for the great info!

You're either running off of the high or low fuel tables. If you're car is running good then there is no need to do it.

Please, everyone, if your car is running fast and stong there will be no benefit from pulling the fuses.

My car felt like I was towing something. Had that feeling of pulling a water skier up from the water onto the top of the water. Yes, it was fairly subtle but look at the vids again. You're either running on one end or the other.

If you're getting under 5.5 seconds 0-60 mph then your probably fine. If you're over 6 seconds, then try the fuse pull.

If you can spin the tires on dry pavement by accelerating alone, you don't need to do this.

So basically it's truely about what we've been seeing.
Yeah it's pretty much what you all have gone through. Most people would be surprised if they knew the amount of updates the modules on the newer vehicles have. Just the bad part about this issue is it has happened on the HOTTEST car out right now.

My LS3 is in the dealers right now for this exact problem. To make matters worse when I installed an OTR CAI the jerky cold running problem was there even after it was warmed up! I'm going to call my dealer shop tomorrow and let him know about this thread! I will try this as soon as I get it back tomorrow night! Great stuff!!!!!

Does anyone know if there is a specific order that I need to pull them out in?

Also, Does anyone know what grade gas is put in at the factory?

Thank you.

[QUOTE=irpq11;852034]So yours was running on the high octane table as it should. Congrats.

I was afraid a lot of people would try this who didn't need to. Could be why GM hasn't issued a TSB on it. they don't want eveyone running in and wanting 'the latest'

irpq11, Very, very good point. That could be a real problem for them if just the people from this thread went in for this... No matter what this is a bad-rod ride. This car rocks and GM knocked it out of the park. All these little gremlins will get worked out. They should start by immediately issuing a bulletin to their dealers advising them to use 93 Octane on the pre-delivery fill.

I think it would be just fine. GM is in a world of hurt if not. California and all their infinite wisdom sees fit to not get 93.

I found this in the owners manual section on GM's SI website. So one would really think the dealers would know better to put 87 in the V-8's.
Recommended Fuel

If the vehicle has the 3.6L V6 engine (VIN Code V), use regular unleaded gasoline with a posted octane rating of 87 or higher. If the octane rating is less than 87, an audible knocking noise, commonly referred to as spark knock, might be heard when driving. If this occurs, use a gasoline rated at 87 octane or higher as soon as possible. If heavy knocking is heard when using gasoline rated at 87 octane or higher, the engine needs service.

If the vehicle has the 6.2L V8 engine (VIN Code W) or the 6.2L V8 engine (VIN Code J), use premium unleaded gasoline with a posted octane rating of 91 or higher. For best performance, use premium unleaded gasoline with a posted octane rating of 93. You can also use regular unleaded gasoline rated at 87 octane or higher, but the vehicle's acceleration could be slightly reduced, and a slight audible knocking noise, commonly referred to as spark knock, might be heard. If the octane rating is less than 87, a heavy knocking noise might be heard when driving. If this occurs, use a gasoline rated at 87 octane or higher as soon as possible. Otherwise, you could damage the engine. If heavy knocking is heard when using gasoline rated at 87 octane or higher, the engine needs service.

I just read the knock sensor description and operation on the SI website as well so it makes me think this whole problem while caused by the dealers was compounded by some programming issues too. I could paste the knock sensor description if anyone would like to read how that system works.
