It also inspired Nascar -the first drivers were moonshine runners who wanted to know whose hotrod was faster.

If the progressive project X allows for him to only count the gas he's consumed and not the ethanol, then they are dumb... If that's all he's doing.... Stupid stupid man.... Miles per gallon of FUEL not miles per gallon of gas only... I really hope that isn't what he's claiming.

Maybe you guys should just wait and see instead of making fun of someone. Several electric cars can go from 0-60 in under 3 seconds.

Its more the claim of high performance with extreme mileage. We could believe either one on its own, but something doesn't smell right when they get put together.

It does smell a bit fishy.... i hope it is true and a miraculous discovery, that'd mean we could all have nice big V8's etc.. that'd be great!!

But as said... a car that fast with that sort of economy!!! unlikely.

Plus i'd like to see what gear ratios he's running to get 0-60 in 3 seconds and 180 mph.

really? several?
I can not even think of the names of several electric cars.
or several cars of any type type that can beat 3 second 0-60 times.
not that I would know though.

I was getting my hopes up.... for some powerful E cars.

Still hope for the Volt to be a step up from where E cars have been.

They exist, a couple electric vehicles can do 0-60 in 1 second. However, there is the slight problem of range, they need to consume a lot of juice to do that.

How does "under 4 seconds" sound?
http://www.teslamotors.com/performance/perf_specs.php

I don't know if there's any claiming 3.0 seconds, or even if there are others claiming under 4 seconds.

How about the tesla roadster...I think it's closer to 0-60 in 4 seconds, but that things electric. AND Arnold Schwarzenegger is buying one. So if it's good enough for the Terminator, it's good enough for me.
