About to pull the trigger on a cam swap

I have a 2013 SS M6 that I'm looking to do a cam swap on. I currently have LT headers, intake and ported TB.

How does this look? Would you change or add anything?

TSP Stage 3 cam
7.400" pushrods
Dual springs with one piece seals/seats
GM 3 bolt conversion
GM gaskets and crank bolt
Melling high volume oil pump

I am sure you did your research but that cam has a lot of overlap with that duration and lobe seperation, its going to be really choppy.

This was actually the cam that was recommended to me by Texas Speed. I did watch a lot of videos and read reviews/reasearch though. They said that it will buck below 1500RPM but that shouldn't be much of a problem. I was thinking about maybe increasing the LSA a bit though anyway

It depends on what your intensions are with the car. If you drive it a lot on the street the bucking will get annoying.

Most common mistake in modding a street car is too big a cam.

You are making the most common mistake in street car modding. Just an opinion.

With no info on what you're going to do with the car, who knows if that's a good cam. Daily driving, long distance travel... horrible choice.

Want to be a choppity chop chop thumping cam to show off at cars and coffee, that will be a great cam.

For me personally, for a street car I'd rather focus on drivability, reliability... I want to get in and take a 1000 mile trip without thinking twice. Big cam....buy a trailer.

Exactly, I'm running their smallest stage 1 cam 225/236-113 and its awesome on the street, no annoying bucking and it made 485 rwhp with some head work. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder i guess. People are shocked when i give them a ride and punch it, car has two personalites.

Thank you all for your opinions. I want the car to still be drivable. The guy I talked to at TSP said that it would be the best mix of power and still be very drivable. This is my first cam so I've read up on them and what they're like but I've never actually experienced driving one.

I guess I'm gonna keep looking

Its a tough decision for sure, what one guy thinks is streetable may be totally off limits for another. One thing is for sure, that cam has 16.5 degrees of overlap and its gonna let you know it.

This is exactly why I wanted to post here before I did anything. I have another car that I drive 75% of the time. I drive the car to work a few times a week (it's only 5 miles away) but I do make the 100 mile drive to my parents about once a month and I take it all over for car shows and meets. I just wanted to get the most bang for my buck while keeping it street able.

If you guys have any recommendations I would love them. I may just go through Pat G for a recommendation or just skip the cam all together and save the money for a supercharger

I did the Pat G thing, he is not a fan of big cams in real street cars, nor is he a fan off all the extra exhaust duration in these new cam. Here were his two recommendations for good street manners and good power. I could have easily made 500 rwhp with that stage 3 cam but on the street you never really see that extra 15 hp at 6500 rpm or would you really feel it.

225/233 113+3 .629/.615 lift on the new Texas Speed lobes

or

227/235 113+3 .625/615 lift on the new Texas Speed lobes

I ended up going with the Texas Speed Stage 1 225/236 113+3 .629/.615 because it was close enough. Very happy with my cam, does not sound super nasty but it drives well and makes great power.

Car made 485 hp SAE and 444 tq with head porting

I have the TSP stage 3.2 in my L99 and wouldn’t be afraid to drive it anywhere

I have this same cam except I have 112LSA with a 3200 stall and I drive it everywhere, it is my daily. Coming back from the shop where the install was done I averaged 21.7-22.7 MPG at 70mph. I really love the sound and the power I picked up with it. Went from 365rwhp/370rwtq with just LT's to 460rwhp/430rwtq on a mustang dyno. She is really fun to drive anf my street manners are pretty good for such a big cam.. Good luck in your decision.

You don't want to go too big on the cam in a modern car.

Would increasing the LSA help on this cam? They give you the option to change it up to a 114 LSA for 15 bucks.

How do you guys think it would behave with a 112 or 113 LSA?
