All those graphs on page 1 tell the story. Blue is HP, red is torque and the dark purple is the air-fuel ratio. The bigger the space between the lines, the bigger the gains. For example, if one blue line is a lot higher than the other on the same graph, then there are HP gains in that RPM range. Some of the intakes showed gains all across the RPM range, but it looks like most of the gains happen at mid-RPMs and higher.

Anyway, if you want the short version, I can save you a lot of time & reading....get the CAI Inductions intake with a scoop. Awesome quality, perfect fit, proven gains and it keeps the temps down.

Couldn't agree more!

Although we do encourage our customers to do research, that's usually where we shine the most!

wally,

Somewhere in this thread is a link to a spreadsheet listing all the parameters for each of the intakes tested. Peak HP and Torque, Average HP and Torque, Intake Air Temps, etc. What I did is print it out then rank each intake, with one being the best, on the parameters that seemed most relevant. Then I added up the rankings and looked for the lowest score.

The result was a virtual tie between CAI and Halltech. I went with Halltech based on lower scores on things I found more important.

You mileage may vary, but that's one way to figure it out.

As for your specific question of when does HP come in... honestly there's not enough gain to really worry about that but the average HP and torque gains were the parameter I placed the most importance on. A high average number would generally imply gains across the entire band.

It's not just somewhere in this thread, it's in the initial post, 14 lines down from the beginning.

Some need to act their age and not their shoe size
Others are asking questions that this thread will help them answer those questions
So why not share that this thread exists

It's been 6 months. Doesn't matter because most will STILL ask the same damn question even though this thread is on the first page. If it was really important it would of been a sticky, and if it was a sticky it would be unfair to other cold air kits that many vendors here sell, because it's just a test on a chassis dyno.

If one is comfortable with the topic why keep bothering those that aren't
If someone discusses one of the Intakes in this thread I will provide this to them and let them make up their own mind

I have had good results with Vararam with custom tuning.

Ted.
I'm cross shopping Vararam and the Cold Air Inductions one.

Any updates if Vararam has finally settled on a design they are comfortable with for the 2012+ Gen5 models(relocated coolant cap I think it was in '12)?

The last I read on here, Vararam completely abandoned the 2012+ redesign. From my understanding, the offset rad-cap in the 2012+ cars interferes with the split in the Vararam design and i saw renderings somewhere of the prototype they were developing for the 2012+ cars and it wasn't an OTR style, it was a side-draft style like Stock/every other CAI for these cars.

Think about it..2014's are out now, thats 3 model years since the initial design and still nothings been put out. Vararam was initially saying back in 2011 that the "new design" would be out soon, and it never happened.

Look into New Era Performance if you want an OTR style intake...otherwise stick with ADM, CAI, Roto-fab, Air-raid, etc.
