Rear Axle/Differential Advice/Help
I am an original owner of a 2001 V6 Camaro with auto trans and the ASR traction control. My rear axle/differential is going. I'm looking for that part for my car to replace sometime this spring/summer. The dealership where my brother works tells me you can't get that part new from GM and you have to find a used one. Is this correct? Anyone know a good place to get one? Does the axle/diff need to have the traction control to match my car? The price I got quoted for a used rear axle/diff from a junkyard and installed was around a grand.
The rear of my car has been making a loud noise for the last couple of years now. Driving at highway speeds the car sounds like you are diving in a train rather than a car because it is loud (a loud sounding Howling noise). One dealership told me it was the rear diff and now my brother’s GM dealership is telling me the same. |

You should be able to find a new carrier for cheap if interested in used. Otherwise, I believe you've got a 10-bolt like the V8's, so finding parts shouldn't be difficult at all. Perhaps check camaro v 6 dot com

I bought snow eaton posi unit for my 01v6. Chances are you have an open differential unless you have a y87 car. I have my old open differential in the shop. Check out camarov6 fullthrottlev6 and v6f-body. All. Com after them.
